Gas in Covington, Va $2.64 a gal.!! After paying almost $9.00 a gal. for 5 weeks in the U.K. this is a real bargain. Gas prices were a lot better in Germany and Austria with Austria having the best prices at about $5.00 a gal. Still, we had a fabulous time.

If I'm not mistaken, the British use the Imperial Gallon which has ~5 litres (more like 4.5 litres), or about 5 quarts, to the gallon. Still, expensive, but the Brits, IMHO, aren't as wasteful as we are here because they utilize the Tube, BritRail and the bus a lot.
I've only driven in Ireland and never the UK as the transporation system is just so wonderful (and I don't have to drive white-knuckled - neither do the other drivers when they see me )

I paid 2.77 Friday. Happened to be on the other side of town in a different car Saturday and saw one station at 2.64. The lines were blocking the highway, so we kept going, but another station down the road was 2.65. We queued up, but when we were second in line, their computers went down with no repair in sight.
I noticed the station I stopped at Friday was down to 2.71 today. I hope the prices stay down long enough for us to get everything filled up at least. I heard that we're only a penny away from the all time high oil prices, so I'm not sure why prices at the pump are going down, but I like it.

Hi Lawren,
The trip was fabulous, amazing scenery, castles, etc., and all of our units were fantastic! It was a 6 and 1/2 week trip. Beags, you will be VERY HAPPY with your purchase at Edinburgh Residence since you are planning on using it. It is a very rare exchange and worth the maintenance fee .
We really love the U.K. and the people there, but Bavaria and Austria keep drawing us back with their drop dead scenery. This trip we only spent the last week and a half in that area and went back to a lot of our favorite haunts.
Lawren, you will have a ball, and meet many wonderful people and make many great memories. We always do. I always to seem to spend as much time b.s.ing with people I meet, the front desk personnell at resorts, tour guides, especially at National Trust and Royal Heritage properties, shop keepers, and people at tables around us in restaurants as I do just sightseeing. It can take us most of a day to tour just one thing, because I meet so many interesting people and we can't seem to stop talking about everything and nothing. Enjoy your trip to the fullest!

British Heritage Pass - UK
Lawren,
Have I previously mentioned to you the British Heritage Pass which is good for a majority of the castles and historical landmarks in the UK? We bought the 15 day pass for our two weeks in England and Scotland last November and saved a bundle of $$$. You can find out more about it on the internet: Great British Heritage Pass: Britain Sightseeing with the British Heritage Pass .
