  • Shawnee on Hold/ Help ?Frank et al

Have River Village II /Shawnee on hold for hopefully the balloon festival . At least I should have the best color. It was the only 2br unit I could get for the 11th/ could have another for the 12th but my reasoning was if the balloon festival was the following weekend I'd at least get to see the Friday night glow and the Sat morning lift off. The reviews are not the best. Should I hold off for something else or is this ok for what I want. shaggy

Shaggy, are you talking about 2008 or 2007? 2007 dates are the 12th, 13th, and 14th.

I'll scout it out this year. I'll be in Ridge Top...I think that they are probably the worst, but I just got it on an Interval Getaway.

We own up at RT and the units are not that bad (they have been refurbishing them so some units are better then others I guess). Down at River Village you could well get a really freshly refurbished unit if it was one of the ones that flooded last June.

              See:

We were up last week and I did not see any ongoing repairs and people were in the units so I assume everything is back in order...

RVII units have been refurbished. (We are owner there). RVII is on the hill and I have not heard of flood damage. The flooded units I believe are RVI, there are the ones closer to Shawnee Inn. (RVI and RVII have different HOA)

I stayed in RT a few years ago before any of them were refurbed, and it was good enough, just dated. Close to the rec center, too.

We own at RVII (unit 121)and stayed there for the first time in about 5 years this past July. The units still have that "rustic look/feel" to them, (the red "soaking tub", no DVD player), but are very spacious. If you are used to, (and expect), the modern, well decorated/furnished units of newer resorts...then RVII will be a disappointment. If you are simply looking for a comfortable place to stay, space to relax, with a nice size kitchen/dining area, you will be fine at RVII.

Having stayed at several of the Pocono timeshares, the only one that I would call "five star/Gold Crown" is the 3BR units at the Villas at Fairway (over near the Fernwood resort).

Thanks everyone. I just got a call from the organizer and he says it will be the following weekend. That stinks, I could switch but what I'm thinking is the colors will be better the week I'll be there. We should have a ts4ms gettogether!! I need someone to come the week after me but actually come earlier (stay with me) then I'll stay with you overnight on Sat and leave on Sunday. Just a thought. Should I change the date? shaggy

Just to extend the discussion on accomodations, the word on the Wyndham/Fairfield Yahoo group is that new units at Shawnee MAY be opening up for next fall. If you have FF points, you might be able to snag a few days then (of course, there is no way to know at this point if the rumor will prove to be correct.) They should be much nicer than anything currently available. Otherwise, I agree with previous posts that RVII is acceptable but not luxurious. The view from our unit this spring was quite nice.

That red tub though - you have to wonder what they were thinking ?!? Maybe it was a good deal from somewhere???

Those red tubs must be a throwover from the days of the heart shaped tubs & heart shaped beds. I also remember reading about champaigne glass shaped tubs. See , it could have been worse, y'all couldv'e been stuck with those!!:rotflmao I'm actually looking forward to seeing them, after all red has been one of my fav colors!! shaggy

The red tubs are kind of fun, in a 1970s bachelor-pad way.

The Red Tubs started in the Pocconos. I recall a heart shaped one.
