We are looking to go to the Poconos in 2009 during the summer and would like one that we could make a couple of day trips to NYC and a day trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Any recommendations that I should start searching for in RCI or II?

Are you looking for fancy? Because unfortunately there's nothing fantastic in the Poconos. There are nice places, but they're all pretty much serviceable rather than lush. There's nothing remotely Marriott-like.
That said, Shawnee Ridgetop Summit is pretty good (the rest of Shawnee is okay but a bit down at the heels),
the Villas at Fairway THREE BEDROOM ONLY are supposed to be nice (not the 2br or smaller, not Villas at Treetops),
and Willowbrook at Split Rock is supposed to be nice as well.
We stayed at Quail Hollow last summer and thought the unit was unusually nice and comfortable for the Poconos.
Look on a map to see how far they are from NYC, mostly it's about two hours or longer. Remember that Mapquest is always optimistic for the greater NYC area --everything takes longer because there's almost always traffic.

Shawnee is the closest to the City Villas of Fairway has nice rooms but you are in the far traffic end. My favorite Poconos resort is Split Rock Resort & Golf Club | A lakeside resort hotel located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. A perfect place for golf, meetings or family getaways and vacations which is further past the outlets. The resort has every thing including a Bowling ally and a Movie theater and are building it's own water park right now. It is one hour from Knoebels Amusement Resort which is the best old time amusement park I have ever seen, Rides that cost a dime even. Then you are only 45 Min from historic About Jim Thorpe PA there you will find the jail where the hand print can not be erased. You are also close to Scranton and the minor league baseball farm team.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms
