  • Split Rock Poconos Waterpark open in fall?

I'm thinking of planning a short getaway to Split Rock in the Poconos for this fall. We are interested in trying out the new waterpark. Thanks to Frank for the recent videos - we haven't been there before.

The website says the waterpark opens in August. Is this realistic or do you think it will be postponed? We would shoot for the first week of November - I'm hoping it will be open then for certain.
Anyone heard anything about admission fees? I hope they will be open on weekdays, since that is when we would be there.
    Thanks!

From what I was told the date was already pushed back twice but this time they are going to meet the Aug opening. Even if they are off by a few weeks it will be open by sept the latest. Billymac is there now and should know more on the opening when he gets back. Prices are still up in the air for admission.

Do you know if they will have day passes available? Or do you have to be a guest at Split Rock?

It will be open to the public but I would bet the public pays more,

Is the waterpark indoors? The picture from Big Frank looked outdoors.

            Thanks,

I have not inquired yet with the staff regarding the Water Park, but I will make it a point since there is a question and others are planning a trip in August. I have seen the construction of the park and I still see the sheet metal framing for the outer wall. You can see clearly into the building. The huge water pumps and other support equipment is sitting next to the parking lot. In my opinion they better get really cracking if they claim to want to make an August opening! I would say they ain't gonna make it!

              Will get an update soon.

Full indoors, if you see this YouTube - Spliltrock resort Water park Construction in May 2008 video then you see the tubes outside but you go in from inside and end up in the inside pool. You are always enclosed inside the tubes.

It is an indoor waterpark. However some of the big slide tubes do circle and loop outside. When its 10 degrees out I really wonder if those slide tubes will be operational??

They have a similar design in other places - I've seen slides that go outdoors and return indoors in Minneapolis so if it works there, I guess it works here. I have a hard time imagining that they would close those slides for most of the year.

Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos also has a similiar set up I thought, where you go through an outdoor tube and end up indoors when you are done. Just saw it from the street, so don't personally know about it.

Massanutten's waterpark does the same. Pretty cool idea since the whole structure doesn't need to be within a building that way. I would imagine it saves the cost of building bigger and makes for a longer slide.

                          Bookworm,

It's official they changed the sign out in the front of the site. Opening Winter of 08. They have tons of construction left to do! No way they will be done by August!
