  • Help! Mountainside Villas at Massanutten

I had my choice of Mountainside 2 Bed with a full kitchen or Woodstone with a partial kitchen.

We picked Mountainside, because it looked much bigger, plus had the full kitchen.

Now Im nervous! Did I make the wrong decision?

I know its a drive to everything, but what are the not to miss things to do in this area?

Are any of the on property restaurants good?

Are any restaurants close by good?

We are going over Easter in April.

    Thanks!!!!

Marti, I have seen that restaurant recommended in the past. Where is it? The website does not give an address.

Good choice.... Mountainside units are very large and the one I stayed in also had a loft. As far as restaurant recommendation there is a little BBQ place just outside the entrance to the resort that is Absolutley wonderful. It is a hole in the wall little log cabin place (turn left out of the resort area and is on right hand side of the road). I recommend the NC style BBQ. The prices are really great and it is good enough I brought home 5 tubs on my last trip.

The Virginia Safari Park is a must visit, Shenendoah Caverns very nice. a few hikes in Shenendoah National Forest and a few days at the Waterpark, Great family trip. Easter week the Bears should be coming out of hibernation, I have never seen one at the resort but spoke to a park ranger last year and first week of April they had spotted 3. I almost ran over somewhere near 1000 deer.

The 50's diner (forget the name) is alright and the pizza on site at the restaurant is pretty good too. Wal-mart and alot of shopping places for groceries are about 10 min drive

simple pleasures looks great!!! and that BBQ places sounds perfect for us!

I just googled the safari park, and it looks like a not to miss!

we definatley want to hit the caverns too.

someone else told me to do skyline drive? no idea what this is?

Skyline drive is the Road through Shenandoah National Forest. It is beautiful and where the deer were all over the road. Every grassy plain had a BIG herd of deer in it and alot were just standing in the road. Make sure you have good brakes.... The 50's diner is called the Thunderbird Cafe, they had really good hamburgers.

The Shenandoah Caverns is even Handicap accesible so very easy tour but a beautiful cave.

If you are a golfer the Mountain course is a pretty good course. The executive course down by Woodstone is alright. I hate the finishing hole but the rest of the course is pretty good. The finishing hole is about 230 Yds all water from tee to green. I lost alot of balls on this hole. I have never finished the last hole in the 3 rounds I have played. I guess that equals 9 balls in the lake.....

Have a great trip. I have purchased the activities cards for the kids at $69 and seems like it is worth it but have also purchased it for DW and myself and it is hard to justify the cost of $99. The Card does get you free admission to the caverns, comedy and magic shows, discounted golf rates, half price off the waterpark admission and alot of free craft activities.

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like golf, skyline and the caverns is a must do for us.

I think we are going to get the activity passes, b/c DS wants to hit the water park everyday and DH and I and DS will golf alot too.
