  • Williamsburg - Powhaten or Kingsgate?

Looking at a trip to Williamsburg this spring. Can get either Historic Powhatan, Wyndham Kingsgate or Wyndham Patriots Place. I've kind of thrown out Patriots Place and am looking for suggestions as to which of the other two to take or if someone thinks Patriots Place should be considered?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Tough choice, but Kingsgate does have a better location.

Thanks for reply Tony. What do you mean by better location, is it closer to stuff? We've never been there, but since we can drive it instead of fly think we will go this year.
      thanks

I'm an owner at Powhatan and stay there or Greensprings when in Williamsburg, however I think Powhatan is in the best location.

The only negative is a 15 min ride to Busch Gardens. I think everything else is closer - Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, restaurants, shopping, food stores, and other necessities like Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Kids Park, etc

As I've posted many times before, my family and I are big fans of Powhatan itself. I think the resort is tops for families, and especially the outdoor pool complex in warm weather.

I hope you are right(going there this year)- only spent a few hours at Powhaten and a week at Kingsgate. Seemed to me that Kingsgate was closer to Colonial Williamsburg and within walking distance to a Golden Corral and a KMart shopping center and just off Richmond Road and all it's outlets and shopping centers.

            Thanks again Tony and DW.
Just did another search and have added Greensprings in to the mix of possibilities to make it more complecated a choice.
Another question what can I expect for weather there in May, probably early May?
Tony when are you going this year?

Best location - Kingsgate by far

Kingsgate is a nicer (but smaller) resort AND has a much better location. Powhatan is in the middle of absolutely nowhere whie KG is in the heart of the relatively small Williamsburg area including the Colonial Village. Greensprings is even further out and even our favorite - Manor House - isn't as well located as Kingsgate. Plus Powhatan has serious and seemingly never ending maintenance issues so you never know what quality of unit you may get. I'd opt for Kingsgate given the choice.

I like Greensprings if you can get it. Better location and newer resort. Rooms are very nice.

Kingsgate is the closer of two resorts to downtown Williamsburg.

I would pick Greensprings first and a two way tie between Powhatan & Kingsgate. The tiebreaker would go to Powhatan if you get a nice unit. There is more onsite activities at Powhatan. Two nice side outdoor pools, the Manor House, lighted tennis course, a huge outdoor bar que pit area, about four basketball courses, volleyball courses and a nice gameroom.

Will you have children with you?
KG has a game room that requires no money... great for the kids.

                        Thanks everyone for the info.
I put the Historic Powhatan on hold and will confirm it tomorrow depending on my wife's check on ok for vac. that week. Saw a Greensprings early this AM but didn't put it on hold and went out for an hour and when came back it was, of course, gone. I know need to move when you see something your are interested in as things go fast... lol
One, actually two last questions.. The unit at Powhatan that we have is a 2BR lockout (max 8). How are they vs a regular 2 BR??
And also for anyone who knows, what should we expect for weather May 16 week?
thanks ahead for any additional info!!!
