We bought into Stormy Point this weekend. Now we are panicking. Friends and family are freaking on us. We have a floating week - red season - odd year. Did we screw up? We are so confused. We have 5 days to back out. We purchased on Sat. Should we? Help! I'm leaning towards backing out. How easy is that? Sorry for the freak out. I need advice.

Retail - developer purchase? Then you are paying too much!

So you are making one big mistake - buying retail. Correct that one error by buying a week resale - every year or every other year - and you'll still have all the other benefits and the resort they are trying to sell you but at a greatly reduced purchase price. The fees are the same either way, the only difference is your up front cost. When you go to sell someday you'll only get the much lower resale value so why pay a premium now? The resort is the same, the use the same, the fees the same - the extra money for purchase at reatil is buying yu absolutely nothing. Buy resale. Rescind this deal while you can. Follow the rescind instruction exactly NOW (your time is almost up) or you will own an overpriced week you could have got much much cheaper. Hope this helps.

Watch these eBay auctions for a clue... follow the rescind instructions exactly per the contract and get out of it!
stormy point, great deals on Timeshares for Sale on eBay!
These auctions will either not sell at all or go for next to nothing...

I totally understand the retail cost issue. Put that aside - I'm still freaking! I don't know if I understand all the details. We got a VIP status. We have "unlimited family" vacations every year. Not sure what they are called elsewhere but the weeks that we can buy for cheap at any time. Can we really exchange easily? Do we really get our maintenance fee back if we don't want to go? I'm so confused! How easy is it to buy resale? All the resale ones I see are for Festiva and mine is through Summerwind.

There's no confusion at all... get out of it now! If you feel you can't do it right, then pay an attorney quickly...
If you want a timeshare that will be worth less than 1% of what you paid for it, hold on to it!
Edited to add: If you have any doubt at all, get out of it now, and then research the facts. That deal will still be on the table at any time in the future. I don't care what the sales rep told you.

Now can someone find me a deal on Stormy Point from SUMMERWIND?
Read this thread for info about Festiva vs. Summerwinds - they are talking about the same units...

I am familiar with the area and the resort,
Cancel, and document doing that, and don't look back.
Branson is overbuilt with condos, timeshare and normal ones. Any moron who can google can rent a week cheap. This moron was just on an RCI rental site and there was plenty of Branson stuff for $329/week.
Maybe you can tell me this, though, is there a difference between Branson Nantucket at Stormy Point (headquartered in the large building at 265 and Stormy Point Point) and Summerwinds version of Stormy Point Village (Sales Center on Gretna in Branson Meadows)?
Like, are there two major developments being marketed down Stormy Point Road.
If you will google or case.net Stormy Point Village you will see they have had a Stormy past.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

You asked - we are giving you the bottom line - GET OUT OF THIS "DEAL" NOW or you will regret it in a few days when you will own it and be one of those resale sellers trying to get 10% of what you paid and unable to do so. Get out NOW!

All the documentation states the if we give our week back to them the reimburse the maintenance fees. I have read on other sites that this a new thing the industry is doing to alleviate some of the criticism. The ownership is in my fiance's name. He's at home going through the cancellation steps. I'm at work getting advice from you guys. But he can't get an answer at the cancellation number. He's sending the letter out today though no matter what. Today is day 3 of 5 days.
