  • Howdy Ya'all from Branson.

    Gotta say hello to ya'all.

    I'm loving Branson so far.

The resort is so nice. Silverleaf is such a treat.

I've not stayed in a Silverleaf yet until now, so now I'm going to seek them out.

I don't play golf but the grounds are spectacular here in Branson and everything is just great so far.

Hope to do a review soon after I experience everything here.

    Gotta go.

My only complaint is no wi-fi but the place is so massive I imagine it would cost a fortune to wire this place.

Oh well, I can live with it.

    See ya.

      Thanks Pat.

You really ought to consider visiting here, especially since you've got your Marriott here. It's actually not as "country" as I thought it would be.

      It's actually really very nice.

Now I see why JLB lives here. Such nice golf courses.

        Chriskre,

Do I remember accurately a post in which you were wondering what all the fuss was about Big Cedar? If you're in Branson now, you should take an hour and drive down and take a look at Big Cedar. It is 10-15 minutes south of Branson. The grounds there are always beautiful (Disney-esque...you NEVER see anyone working on them, yet they're always perfect. I can't figure out how they do it! never a piece of trash, etc.)

Do they have a restaurant? If so we might go and check it out.
Silverleaf is kind of Disneyesque too.
          Thanks Anita.

My sister lives between Springfield and Branson. I'm still trying to figure out the attraction. I'm going to visit in a couple of weeks. Hoping to beat the humidity.

Couple of restaurants, and (at least) one with a good story. Restaurants include Truman Smokehouse, The Worman House and Devil's Pool Restaurant. The drive right at Big Cedar is...interesting. I probably go slower through the stream than I need to, but I am worried about that section of the road. Have fun.

I think the mountain vistas might be part of the attraction. I live in very flat Florida so for me this is like riding on a roller coaster when I drive.

Went to college of the Ozarks today and that place is beautiful. Had a great lunch there and visited the "Smithsonian of the Ozarks" on campus. Very nice little museum with a surprising collection. The hotel and restaurant are in a Log cabin style Lodge (reminiscent of Disneys Wilderness lodge). Very beautiful and a great restaurant. The view of the valley is so nice up there too. The college has a wonderful mission. They allow students to go to the college for free tuition but they work their way thru school by working at the school or the hotel/restaurant.

It looks like they host alot of meetings/conventions. They had pictures of Margaret Thatcher, George Bush, Sara Palin, General Schwartzkopf and many others that have spoken and stayed there. They've even got a presidential suite. A big todo about something we all take for granted, a 2 bedroom condo suite. Boy am I spoiled.

I live in northern California, so the "mountains" in MO are more like "bumps" to me.

We're going to go to Chateau on the Lake for a spa day with our mom when I visit. That should be fun.

I know as far as mountains go they look like little bumps but I much prefer them than having those giant mountains that you feel like you are going to drive off of if you make one wrong move.

I get in a panic everytime I have to drive up those big mountains like Mount Ranier. Now that was nerve wrecking and then it started snowing and we got in a foggy cloud and I couldn't see anything. At least here in MO, I can see the road. And no big logging trucks to block your view either.

So where is Chateau on the lake?

Glad you are enjoying our resort. We will be there June 4th. Isn't there wifi at the Activity Center?? I am going to try to use my Blackberry cell connected to laptop for wifi and see how it works. How's the weather so far?

                              A few things:

I did not sense that you are here.

Chateau is at the intersection of 165 and 265, by the Table Rock Dam.

                              The humidity is already here.

I guess you're at Holiday Hills (there are 2 Silverleaf resorts here). That's kinda a bummer because the work on the Taneycomo bridge slows down traffic that way.

Some of y'all know Topeka Tom (and Topeka Barb) . . . we had lunch with them yesterday at our hoyty toyty country club, after Men's league.

They are going to get outta town before the big crowd gets here for Memorial Day weekend. Tom said he's gonna have Cadillac surgery so we can play golf together again. The last time we played was probably the first time we met, maybe 6 or 7 years ago, and that was at Holiday Hills.
