  • Caves to see?

We will be traveling from Kansas City to Branson end of July and since this is the short leg of the trip and we would end up at the resort early, we were thinking of possibly taking one of the cave tours. I know there are a lot of caves in the span we will be driving.

Has anyone done any of the caves to say that they are good or bad and which we should do?

Or, is there something else on this stretch of road that we should see or do instead of the caves?

    That's my stretch of road

Since we live in Kansas City and visit Big Cedar often, I have driven that stretch of road so many times I could do it in my sleep

You'll pass right by Fantastic Caverns near Springfield. That is the only cave tour we've done, but it was a great tour. It is very cool down in the cave which would be lovely on a hot July day. I actually had to buy a long sleeved shirt because otherwise I'd have been too cold.

I can't think of anything else to do on that stretch of road except for listening to my kids' festive craziness

If you are the "outdoorsy" type, you would probably enjoy visiting the huge Bass Pro shop in Springfield. Traveling south on Hwy 13, turn left on Sunshine, go a ways and it will be on your left.

Thanks Sandi, but since they have a Bass Pro in Branson, I'll go to that one.

The one in Branson is a baby Bass Pro. The one in Springfeild is much larger.

we have been to many, many caves. there is a neat one at Silver Dollar city. We enjoyed the one north of Springfield, with the ride in a little car. In fact, I remember buying my tickets off of a radio station website, but no longer know which one it was. There are some giant ones, but I believe between Springfield and St Louis.
