I can just foresee someone sending a copy of parts of this thread to the Branson Chamber of Commerce in the hope that someone would be run out of town on a rail (whatever that means).

If you are referring to the Democrat, they would understand, cuz they've been trying to do that for years.

But, we do have a rail:

I empathize . . . Light deprivation makes folks crabby and outta sorts this time a year.

You'll feel better on summer weekend.

To be fair, it's not all that bad. Branson is only 70% Republican. You just would not know there are any Dems based on the rhetoric and local humor.

Anyway, like I said in the OP, if you are the type of person who likes to spend their money where they're welcome . . .

Well, after the rude comments here, I bet you're wondering if I really know the twins who own the marina, or if I'm just some babbling fool, huh?

If it makes any difference, my wife and I entertained many, many Branson visitors when I was the unofficial Branson guy on a certain other internet forum.

We have been timesharing for more than 20 years and have been on more than 120 exchanges.

&, what made me start this thread to begin with?

Well, it's really frustrating when I am around some very well known, well respected professional or civic leader, people who I would like to admire and are held in high esteem, and then they open their mouth and reveal who they really are with some racist, sexist, off-color politcal comment or joke. They do it as if everyone should agree with them, feel the same way. For me it spoils the whole America's Hometown hospitality image.

I had an episode like that yesterday.

So, I post what I know, stuff that is often not well known.

                Been there.

It's so hard sometimes to hold one's tongue when a fool is wagging theirs, but we have to do it to keep our job. It's just too bad the fool doesn't realize the value of measured speech, even on the golf course.

As a Minne-Snow-dun, the cold has given me a thick skin. Thank goodness - I was able to survive a wrestler turned governor without leaving the state (my husband won't move!), and a seemingly unendiing winter, among other irritations and embarassments, so I hope I can enjoy that semi-Southern hospitality again late next month - without daily thunderstorms and tornadoes. And thanks for the boat rental information. I plan to call them next week.

                  Kansas city bbq

As a KC resident and BBQ fan, I strongly second the recommendation for ok joes. the beans are amazing and their fries are my favorite. Arthur bryants is my second favorite and gates a close third.

This thread is making me hungry.

I bought a Big Green Egg last week. This weekend, I am building the BGE table/stand. I am using deck cedar. I will look great and I can't wait to break it in as I put a rack of ribs on it April 30.

I have a gas grill, electric smoker and now the Big Green Egg which is a charcoal grill and smoker. I have enough cooking area to feed the whole block.

                      Mmmmmm

Okay, so now I'm REALLY hungry for BBQ! Vintner, I may just have to follow my nose to Brkln Pk! We were in SC last year, en route from Charleston to Myrtle Beach. Smelled BBQ cooking and turned our car around to get some. Best way to start a vacation!

                        My Homemade ribs recipe:

                        1. Buy a slab of the ribs they cook/smoke/bbq at Harter House in Kimberling City on weekends. Get the ones with just rub, no sauce gooped all over them. It's OK to get them from the deli cooler during the week.

                        2. Brush them with Ott's Sweet Hickory sauce.

                        3. Put a good scald on them on the grill (whichever one you want to use). A good scald is when they are just starting to burn, but don't. Be attentive and turn them as needed. You'll know when they are done.

                        4. Eat with cole slaw and fresh sweet corn.

                        That was lunch yesterday.

My sentence in KC was 25 years to life, and I got paroled at 26 years.

OK Joe's was new(er) when we were still there. Zarda's in Blue Springs was convenient and their Rib Packs were about right for us.

Bates City BBQ was a favorite for years.

Branson does not have the eateries that KC, Des Moines, Omaha, Wichita, etc. have.

When in Minn/St. Paul/Shakopee, Famous Dave's was our place. I guess that's where I/we got to know FD. The ribs I do like above are similar to FD's.

The twins were at the golf course today and I told one of them you would be calling, so now would be a good time. They are very nice, and will take care of you as good as anyone. Like I said, I can't tell them apart, so I don't know which one I talked to.

Sorry to have to add the following, but it is in line with the thread topic:

Some say it's tough to make a go of it in Branson.
