  • Golf in Branson

I need some assistance with selecting a place to stay in Branson. My DH loves to play golf. That's the main thing!
    Which resort would be best?!
thanks for any help you can give!

We have two levels of golf.

    1. Lesser resort courses (Holiday Hills and Thousand Hills).

    2. Championship courses (Branson Creek, LedgeStone, Payne Stewart Golf Club) Murder Rock is not their caliber.

For occasional golfers/resort course, stay at Holiday Hills.

For the best championship course/timeshare combination, stay at Escapes! at StoneBridge Village. That's where LedgeStone is.

PM me for some perks & more details.

Holiday Hills usually has alot of availability through RCI. One thing you have to be careful with at HH (I say this as a Silverleaf owner), be sure to get a 2 bd 6/6 unit, not a 6/4. The 6/6 units are (usually) the Presidentials which are newer, larger, have washer/dryer and are generally more preferable. The three bedrooms are also very nice. The one bedroom 4/4 is the lockoff of the two bedroom 6/6 unit.

I don't know anything about the golf course.

        Have fun on your trip!

Originally, in the really old days, HH was a fly-in golf resort, founded by a guy from Chicago (I believe). One of the fairways was the landing strip.

It was my golf course when I was an occasional golfer. It is forgiving, with adjacent fairways, busy, inexpensive.

When I took the step up, I joined LedgeStone. I play there every week. I play Payne Stewart and Branson Creek every now and then. All three are beautiful courses, as nice as anywhere. Branson Creek is rank 1 or 2 in Missouri, depending on your source, and Payne Stewart is a Golf Digest best new course. LedgeStone is sweet, a joy to play.

If you have Troon perks, Payne Stewart and Branson Creek are both Troon courses.

Since this thread might be 'hit' in the future for anyone searching for Branson golf... I'm just going to mention it here that there are plenty of golf courses near Branson that are offering half-price golf specials lately.

I'd recommend doing a Google Search on 'Branson half price golf' and see what's available.

For years here and on other forums, I have suggested the first week of November as peak color. It varies.

Maybe you could find some of those threads using the Search Feature here:

I mentioned earlier about the half price deals for golf in the Branson area. Today's deal (and it will last for today only) is for $89 for two rounds plus cart at John Daly's Murder Rock Golf & Country Club. That special includes lunch also. The deal is an instant print-out and you don't have to pay extra for shipping. This is normally a $180 value for $89 and you can use the certificate through Aug 31, 2011.

P.S. since it's Friday, it may be out there through the weekend. I'm not sure.

If you need a playing partner, I'd even be interested in meeting anybody down there and pay my share for the certificate at that time. We might even get that JLB character out there for some half-price golf!

I would not golf at Murder Rock for free.

My golfing days are limited and would only be at LedgeStone, Payne Stewart or Branson Creek.

The Golf Channel AM Tour is at Payne Stewart tomorrow and Sunday and there were 150 rounds scheduled for today. Most gave in/up a little after noon, cuz of rain/lightning. When I left there were probably still 30 carts on the course, in a downpour.

                          Ya gotta love golf . . . & golfers.

I stopped by LedgeStone about 2:00 and they had closed the course.

Anyone with an established handicap is welcome at LedgeStone for Mens' League on Wednesday mornings, with a little buffet lunch after. Very nice group of about fifty most weeks.

Never golfed at Murder Rock myself. Played LedgeStone and Branson Creek several times and agree with you on those two.

This link is date-specific, so probably won't be good for long, but here's a 12:50 tee time tomorrow for $36. That's a better deal than Murder Rock for free.

It is so low because it is trying to complete a 4-some that can only be sold online. 2 were already booked at that tee time @ $89 each. If you will watch golfnow, you can get that deal fairly often.

                              Edit:

Here's the same thing for 1:00 PM Sunday at LedgeStone for $32.95:

Sorry about the link . . . anyway, the idea is to watch for tee times that have already booked less than 4.
