  • Hello from Branson

We've enjoyed our stay here at Wyndham Mountain Vista. The weather has been hot and muggy, so we're happy. We've enjoyed plenty of time to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Mountain Vista gets a Very Good from us. Refurbished and in very good condition inside and out. They're just finishing restoring the last of the hot tubs and pools, and have redone the landscaping this spring. We attended the Sunday Welcome and learned about the refurbishment underway at all 3 Branson locations. The wi-fi works well; just enter the code they give you once a day. The only thing I'd like to see upgraded would be the chairs on the balcony. The cheap plastic ones are just that. Oh - and unplug the phone as soon as you get into the unit. No "surveys" for us.

State Park Marina (thanks, JLB) met all our expectations for boat rentals. We also went out on the Spirit of America catamaran for a very relaxing cruise on Table Rock Lake. Most of our week involved fishing and boating, so I can't comment on the shows here. We did drive down to Big Cedar to check it out. Yes, it reminded us of a Disney park, but the location is such that I'd go there only if I wanted to stay there most of the trip. Or if I got the chance. We do like the proximity of Mountain Vista to the rest of Branson, though.

Stayed in Mountain Vista last year too.
I thought it also had a great location. Yeah those plastic adirondack chairs are pretty pathetic. I found the rooms really nice too and that was before the remodel so they must really be nice now.

I agree with you that Big Cedar is very nice but not close to anything. But it is an attraction all in itself so I can see why people would want to stay there after they've done the Branson show thing. I imagine it's a resort for those repeat visitors.

How has the floods impacted the resorts? Were any of them affected?

Not that we could tell at resorts, but the flooding really hurt Branson Landing. The Coast Guard still won't let the Ducks on Taneycomo until at least next Wednesday. The workers were working to repair the fountains and expect the dancing waters to be restored next week. Weather forecast is for dry skies for the next 7-10 days, and they're happy about that here.

We didn't see any ill effects beyond docks and ramps at Big Cedar. We also stopped at Westgate Branson Lakes (Emerald Pointe) to visit a friend and saw no problems there. The water's receding, but parking lots are still underwater and even the Ducks have to share the ramp next to Branson Belle because the other one is submerged.

          No more cheap chairs!

As we were leaving Mountain Vista, workers were unloading new, much nicer patio furniture. If only we'd waited a week...and they also said new mattresses and flat screens are on order for all 3 Branson resorts.

            Sorry I missed ya.

Compared to other Fairhams, like Nashville, Branson has always been heads and shoulders above them in interior decorating.

Some people's trash is others' treasure . . . and we have a sleep sofa and matching chair/ottoman from one of their other recent renovations . . . 75 bucks.

We are still about 50 feet from being able to step onto our dock.

We only caught one fish, but did enjoy the resort, the weather and the area. The only thing I won't miss is the buzz of the cicadas! I hope it continues to dry out down there; we saw a lot of flood damage there as well as along the Missouri river on our way home. It's been a terrible spring. Let's hope summer is better for the country.

LOL! They are really something this year! DH hates them and DD16 and I are rather enjoying them. They seem to be much more aggressive actually flying at people and swarming around alot more this time around. They are also REALLY LOUD. When I'm outside they sound like 1 million maracas, and from inside they sound more like a giant rainstick.
