    Overpriced

(but easy to keep the little ones in the family entertained if you have deep enough pockets!)

That is an insult to retirees.

I am a retiree and it sure isn't a place I want to play. Been there, seen it, and done it.

Maybe you don't play because they don't have gambling.

Okay then seniorplayground might be a more appropriate word.

When I'm there, and not playing, I'm playing.

I often leave the golf course and go hop on the jet-ski.

But, then, I'm sorta a plain guy, pretty easy to please, doing what every high school kid would want to do.

              golf
              lake
              golf
              beach
              golf

              JLB
Please excuse me, I'm a Dick. Not a moron just a Dick

Count yourself among the vast minority.

That Carlinism was used on the Branson forum, to describe a person moving from the South to the North.

I'll go start a new thread with an interactive map showing where people are moving to and from. It's cool.

I may be in a mionority on this thread but my choice for one word is....
                        fun
It may well be all those other things also but we had a good time there last year and are going back this year.
Our timeshare was great, it was a short drive from St. Louis so we stopped on the way to see our son, the landscape and nature is pretty interesting in the areas around the town, it was an easy drive to 3 other states so my wife picked up 4 new states while there in her quest to go to them all, and we just had a pretty good time while there.

I'll let the Chamber of Commerce know.

Not one word, but for a long time my impression of Branson was basically summed up by a book title -- Shepherd of the Hills.

Then, for a while, it was, "Osmonds," because I'd heard they were performing there.

That was probably the right word for the decade or so before we actually got there -- I lost count of the number of retirees who got to talking to us at various events who told us we needed to take the kids to Branson, that we'd have a great time there. And they were right!

Now we've actually been there, I'm going with that word. It's a pretty area, lots of easy-to-moderate walking opportunities, from the Branson Landing Riverwalk to hikes in the hills; some little museums; the last stop in the "Laura Ingalls Wilder Tour" is an hour or so away; and of course there are all the shows and tourist trap stuff. We could visit there cheap, or spend a lot of money; either way, we'd have a good time.

Let's say someone was told to vacation in Branson because it is a couple hours drive to an elderly family member who starting to have some cognitive issues. So, while Branson isn't exactly the desired destination, it is a likely place to visit coming or going. What types of things are there to do that have nothing to do with shows, amusement parks, etc? We like nature stuff. You know like big trees, waterfalls, oceans, rain forests, mountains, etc. Is there anything like that around there? Or, maybe another destination resort in the state would be more our type?
