  • Well, This is a Fine Kettle of Fish - Festiva takes over Escape! Resorts

Escapes Resorts is under new management. Please contact Festiva at 800-266-7374 or www.festiva.travel

No notice, that's just what I found when I tried to log-in to the owners' website, which does not seem to exist, also without notice.

Now that I'm looking, I find this:

    http://dockets.justia.com/search?q=S...%2C+Inc.%C2%A0

Again, no notice from anyone; I just stumbled onto this.

Could this timeshare BS get any more fun?

I don't even know what the resort's name is for sure, or who we're affiliated with, if we are.

        OMG! JLB.

You mean a resort can just sue their "mini system", disaffilate from it, and who knows what else, without even a small notice to it's owners?

              By accident.

It's a week we have for sale, meaning one of the six weeks we own. This one actually has value because it comes with "year-round golf" in a private gated community with one of the top-rate golf courses in the state. About 1/3 of the golf membership owns a week for golf.

A friend of one of them contacted me, wanting a week. Then, he got back to me saying "because so many are not paying their fees, all Escapes! owners had to pay a $600 assessment."

I don't where he got that information; but we have never paid a Special Assessment. Bad Debt Expense in the 2013 budget is only $7.51.

But, when I google-snooped, I found that Festiva has taken over Escapes! and our resort is suing Escapes!, Cooper Development, John Cooper, et al.

All that with no notice to owners.

I paid our 2013 fees just days after the lawsuit was filed in December. Do you think the lack of notice could possibly have been because they did not want owners to not pay!!!??? Our payments went to Escapes!

                Wow!

Sounds like a pretty shady thing do be involved in.

Did you know that owners there are renting their weeks on cl for less than an annual fee?

Yeah, but that's not the real point. The timeshare part of it is virtually worthless, like most. Those renters only "get golf" for a week, if that. The owners "get golf" year-round.

It's like some of the beach resorts in Florida . . . locals own at them to have a beach club, a place to park and access the beach.

I hate Festiva, &, hopefully, it did not affiliate with them. No one would want them inside the gates.

Yep. I found this out a while back. (I posted it on TUG). I"m soooo glad I sold my Escapes week. I don't have to deal with the horrible Festiva. The only thing is, I keep receiving calls from Adventure Club from Festiva. Ugh. Wish they would quit calling me because I am no longer an owner..

It's amazing how little there is about it on the Internet. When you google Escapes!, it pretty much looks like business as usual.

Except or this, which explains that Escapes! ceased marketing efforts almost five years ago:

                            http://www.escapesresorts.com/Auction.html

As has been suggested here a few times, here is a timeshare developer selling off inventory as whole ownership, and in reaction to tough economic times, not far from what we've talked about.

Yeah, Festiva are lowlifes in the timeshare industry, and they have a history of running roughshod over the members and trying to control the HOA. Very, very bad news.
