RCI availability in Branson

I try to remain objective. The end result is that on this forum I am considered to be a Branson-lover, because I try to point out things about the area that others may miss, but on the Branson forum I am considered to be a Branson-basher because I do not blindly accept the puppy dogs and roses perception they insist you have on that forum.

The truth is that I see both the pluses and minuses of all areas I am familiar with.

Did I mention I caught my first Table Rock Bass of the year today.

thank you Hobbitress for recognizing the other things in the Dells.

We like the Driftless area in general, and Wisconsin Dells is one of its highlights. Witches Gulch is one of my favorite places on the planet -- we come in the back way, walk down in the quiet, wait for the next boat to come through, then walk back up once they're gone. The kids don't love it as I do, but so far they come along anyhow. There are a lot of state parks and things in the area as well; the one with the arched rock is my "must do" for next time. We did a new-to-us state(?) park last time but haven't gotten to that one yet.

I think most resort areas started up initially due to the natural beauty of the area -- certainly true of Wisconsin Dells and Branson -- although there's often something else that gets things kickstarted: photographer H.H. Bennett in Wisconsin Dells and author Harold Bell Wright (The Shepherd of the Hills) for Branson, for example. Although we like the CMV resort, too; we wouldn't have been as happy in Odyssey Dells, I don't believe. CMV is close enough for convenience but far enough to be peaceable.

We're not big restaurant people but we did check out the macaroni place downtown, which was fun for a one time thing.

I'm not either but did find the fishery interesting.

I thought that was fine for one visit, but my kids thought that was the coolest, so we have to go every time and let them feed the fish. They'll outgrow it eventually, I expect.

BC is too far from anything to do except the activities in BC. I'd probably be bored after 2 or 3 days in BC personally since I don't fish.

I don't get the appeal of BC, either, although it's a beautiful place to visit when it isn't crowded. Which is... dead of winter, I guess, since that's the only time we've been there when we thought it peaceable. But it's one of the few BG properties that actually has resale value. The Cliffs at Long Creek works well for us because we like to do winter vacations where we watch a series of movies (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter...), and it's got a "movie room" kinda thingie with a big screen.

On my list but we haven't gotten there. The last couple of times we've gone it was pretty cold, outright winter or chill spring, and although we did go hiking on one of the warmer days when we went in April, we did mostly "inside" stuff. Ran up to Madison for a day, for instance. Did a couple of downtown things (museum, capital building), and also the Mustard Museum, which was a hit. A lot of the mustard mixes reminded me of things I've made myself, but the root beer mustard was something new and different.

There are supposedly a lot of school groups at the Crane Foundation in the spring and into June, so I was thinking we'd probably go there the next time we get out in the fall. I've driven through the Dells area a couple of times in September or October but haven't stayed there later than Memorial Day Weekend yet; if we can time it right, I'm thinking the fall colors must be gorgeous!

Branson has always been a place people love to love or love to hate.

That hasn't changed.

Not important, really . . . that fiddle guy did a concert in our little Florida place this February. When he first came out, he introduced DW and me to the crowd, and they were flabbergasted (there's a word I seldom use) that we live down there and work up here. He starts up for the year Thursday.

I check Branson almost every day, and there's plenty of stuff available every month. Many 2-bedroom EVs have been $249.

Today is the first time I noticed this:

instead of it being Silverleaf.

Holiday Inn bought Silverleaf a while back. They rebranded a few last year.

On October 29, Silverleaf’s Fox River Resort was rebranded to a Holiday Inn Club Vacations property. This will be followed by Oak n’ Spruce Resort in November and Apple Mountain Resort in December.

and last week announced 3 more rebrand roll outs:

Piney Shores Resort, Conroe TX
Holiday Hills Resort, Branson MO
Orlando Breeze Resort, Davenport FL

I would imagine the rest will eventually follow.
