  • A JLB question for sure

I am looking at booking a quick fishing trip in March and came across Sunterra Resorts The Plantation at Fall Creek (#3037 ) and the trout fishing at Lake Taneycomo sounds very intriquing. Now here is the question.

Is March too early for trout and are there really trout in this lake?

Is Table Rock close by if we get shut down at Lake Taneycomo and how is the fishing there in March?

Last but not least If we happen to boat past your neighbors house would mooning and sounding the air horns be acceptable on Table Rock? (I would send you an advance warning so you could warn the other neighbors to look away from the lake is the sight would not be appealing).

Thanks for the input. Glad to have people like you here to ask these questions.

A lovely post, one of my alltime favorites. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself an attaboy.

Best as I can tell from the small print on the following site, trout in lakes is open all year in Missouri. It sorta looks like opening day at the trout parks, like Bennet Springs and Roaring River, is March 1. That seems right because it is always cold. That event is wall-to-wall fishing-people having more trouble untangling lines than catching trout.

We have been to the marina/dock at that resort and watched Minnuhsodans catching little trouties. That was with Topeka Tom and Topeka Barb and I'm guessing that was March of last year because it was the last days before the Minnuhsodans were heading home, there having been a path cleared in the snow to get there.

Yes, they were catching quite a few little trouties, probably because 700,000 are released every year not far upstream in Lake Taneycomo, which is really more like a slow-flowing river between Table Rock Lake and Bull Shoals Lake.

You are welcome to join us on the Margaritaville dock on Table Rock, or to go out in search of little bassies aboard the BTSRN.

As for mooning/flashing our neighbors, let me know when you will be here and I will let you know where they live.

My guess would be at btcctomtb's condo at Fall Creek in March.

I have never heard of anyone in the area serving that dish.

              Jim,
Paths in the snow? I am such a fair weather person that scares me... but after reading the links Marti sent. http://www.branson.com/lake-taneycomo.html I am so sold. 2 brothers have said OK my oldest brother almost in (He is the chef) and even dear old dad wants to go. Will let you know when we are heading down. Have a target date of March 9th with a unit on hold now. Probably only going to stay a few days unless the fishing is good than might have to call in for a few more.

March is the time of year that the bassies come into the banks to take care of business. Maybe you will want to come over to the Margaritaville dock for a day.

                  Jim,

Any restaurants in your area serving up road kill stew as a daily special?

                      It's a small world.

We went to an auction at a resort on Taneycomo today, appropriately the Riverlake Resort. There were too many people for the amount of stuff, so we got back in the van and wandered on down the road.

We looked across the river-lake and there was the Fall Creek Resort dock!

Despite the cold and sleet, Taneycomo was busy with bundled up guys out in their boats catching little trouties. I bet we saw 50 boats out fishing, plus those on the bank.

The current is very strong there and a person would have to pay attention to the release from Table Rock, the dam and hatchery being not far upstream. They have a siren that sound when a new release is coming. A lot of water is being release now because we have had a lot of precip. Table Rock has gone up about four feet since just before Christmas.

We have decided to wait on this one. I will be watching for a mid May or October week now. The warmer weather and more time off from work is very appealing to me. Another question for when we do finally make this trip. What is the restaraunt that throws biscuits at you?

                            Lamberts.

It's at the second exit south of HWY 60, on HWY 65 as you head south from Springfield. I believe CC HWY. I really know, but my rememberer is a little fuzzy.

Go very hungry and not at meal time. For lunch, be there at 11:00. Then anytime 2:00-4:00.

Or wait an hour to get a table.
