  • Branson Traffic Congestion

    Yes, we still have it.

I would suggest using the bypass routes, and detail them, but then, if everyone did, they would not be shortcuts and we would not be able to save time and frustration by using them.

In addition, the 13 HWY bypass/76 HWY-Talking Rocks Road interchange project is in full swing. As of yesterday they are paving the old 13 HWY/76 HWY intersection in Branson West. Traffic going north on 13 has been backed up to DD (probably 4 miles) and traffic from the east was backed up passed Stonebridge as far as I could see to the east at 5:00 yesterday.

A normal 30-45 minute drive coming home from the golf course with a routine stop at Wal Mart, took 1 1/2 hours.

But the roasted chicken was fresh off the rotisserie, so still hot when I got home!

The only alternative to avoid Branson West is to take 65 to 86 on the south side of Table Rock. For appoitments that we know we have to be at on time, we have been going that way and leaving earlier. That's better than trying to guess how long you will sit in the 13 and 76 Branson West mess.

As more big projects get into full swing out that way, like Indian Ridge, it will only get worse.

Compare it to 192 trying to get into Disney on Saturday of Christmas week!

Is there a website that has a map of the area? If all goes as planned, which it seems lately, it doesn't. We are going to come to Branson for a few days in the middle of May, 2007.

Here is the map of downtown and the 76 HWY area.

The bypasses are the Red and Blue routes (which you can combine) and the Yellow route.

The quickest way to get to the resorts near Welk or near Thousand Hills (Pointe Royale, Fairfield, Sunterra/Fall Creek, The Falls, Palace View, Worldmark, and others) when coming from 65, is to take Fall Creek Road.

Large Map of Branson Missouri - Branson Tourism Center

Then there are routes to get around all of that completely--165, 265, 376, and Ozark Mountain Highroad (465). You can see some of those on that map.

When it comes to Branson West, Kimberling City, Lampe, Blue Eye, trips to Dogwood Canyon or Eureka Springs, there's only two, since there's only two bridges over Table Rock Lake (13 HWY to the west and 86 HWY to the south). So there are no alternate routes.

The paving at the Branson West 13 HWY/76 HWY intersection is completed, so that backup is over. But that 13 highway bypass construction will be going on for a long time.

It will be a long summer.
