  • Branson Busts Gas Prices Again

Branson Missouri vacation lodging, hotels, shows, Chamber of Commerce

The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB is responding to increasing gas prices by offering visitors to Branson a Gas Buster discount card, accepted at dozens of live shows, area attractions, lodging properties, retail shops and restaurants, worth a total of $50 off purchases, as well as a chance to win a grand prize getaway to Branson.

Between May 1 and Oct. 31, 2007, The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB will give a Gas Buster discount card to anyone who presents a valid drivers’ license and a minimum of $40 in gas receipts incurred within 48 hours of their arrival at one of the Chamber’s two Welcome Centers, located at the intersections of U.S. Highway 65 and Missouri Highway 248, and at Hwy. 65 and Missouri Highway 160 in Branson. Gas Buster card holders are automatically entered to win the grand prize 4-day/3-night vacation for four to Branson, which will be awarded on October 31, 2007.

“By offering the Gas Buster discount card to our visitors, we are letting them know that we value their business. And Branson businesses are willing to work together to defray the cost of gas so our visitors can afford to do all the things they would like to do while they are here,” according to Ross Summers, president and CEO of the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB. “Most of the visitors that vacation in Branson drive into town. The Gas Buster program will help bring more people, especially more of our regional neighbors coming in for a weekend getaway. Branson’s location, within a day’s drive of roughly one-third of our country’s population, makes us very accessible to families looking for theme parks, outdoor and lakes recreation, along with shopping and world-class entertainment.”

Gas Buster discount cards and the list of participating sponsors will only be issued from the two Chamber/CVB Welcome Centers. Business hours are 8am to 5pm, Mondays through Saturdays, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. The Gas Buster promotion runs from May 1 through Oct. 31, 2007. For more information, log on to Branson Missouri vacation lodging, hotels, shows, Chamber of Commerce or call 800-214-3661.

Yea, but in order to use this card you have do DRIVE to several different places to get you discount. It pretty much wipes out any savings you might see. Besides that, many of the show discounts can be had from the tourist rags that are free. To add insult to injury you must buy your gas in Branson, which is only 10 to 20 cents per gallon higher than if you fill up in Springfield before you arrive and then again after you leave Branson. On the surface this looks like a good deal but you really have to dig a little to find out if the discounts offered ($2 at one store, $3 on show ticket) are really worth the time and effort. In our case, it's not worth either the time or the effort.

You should be able to pull the offer up online to see what/where the discounts are offered. From there you can figure out if the offer is worth it to you or not. Obviously, for us it was not worth the time or the effort.

I was wrong about one thing. #3 says to save your receipt for 2 days before you arrival to Branson. That does make some difference as you can fill up before leaving for home and then again in Springfield where the gas prices are cheaper. You still have to us the discount card at local merchants to get your $50 discount card. IOW, you have to spend more money to get you savings back.

I suppose this isn't such a bad deal since you don't have to buy your gas in Branson. It just might cost you more in Gas if you try to squeeze all $50 out of that discount card by driving everywhere you would need to go to do that. However, if you don't mind stopping to get the card it could still end up saving you some $ off your trip and you've already spent the money for gas anyway.

I was not able to pull a list of the vendors offering discounts like I saw last year. All I remember was it was $2 off for this or $3 off for that.

          1. Save your gas receipts during your trip to Branson.

          2. Arrive at one of the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB Welcome Centers, located at Highways 65 and 248 or at Highways 65 and 160. Hours are from 8am to 5pm, Mondays through Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

          3. Present a valid driver’s license along with your gas receipt or receipts dated within the previous two days of arrival. Visitors will get to keep their gas receipts. They will be marked by Welcome Center staff so they cannot be presented twice.

          4. Total gas receipts for each visitor must equal $40 or more to receive a Gas Buster Discount Card. For every $40 in receipts presented, one $50 Gas Buster Discount Card will be issued.

          5. Visitors will also get a list of participating Branson area Gas Buster sponsors.

          6. Present your Gas Buster Discount Card at one of the participating sponsor businesses to receive great discounts.

7.The Welcome Center staff will explain the following terms and restrictions printed on the back of the Gas Buster Discount Card.

At current prices, it won't take but one fill up to get $40.00 of gas, might check it out, if it is on the way. Thanks.

It would depend on which car I was driving. Best thing to do is probably fill up before leaving and then again in Springfield. I don't think anyone would have trouble hitting that $40 mark then.

My goal is to never have to purchase gas in Branson and, if I do, only to purchase the minimum amount necssary. They're awfully proud of their gas in Branson.
