Thanks! We appreciate the hospitality and standing invitation to TUGGERS. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that this "quickee" trip to Branson is going to afford us the opportunity to see and do much. We arrive late in the afternoon on Sunday, have dinner plans with the Lumberjack Show. After that, we won't know much more about our itinerary until we arrive in Branson.

I am curious, what does BTSRN stand for? (I've seen it many times . . . just not sure what it means.)

Formerly the TUGboat, now Boat That Shall Remain Nameless, after SWSRN (She Who Shall Remain Nameless).

BTSRN spent one summer in the Big Cedar rental fleet, before being replaced by the Tahoes. BTSRN is in much better shape than the Tahoes at Big Cedar, unless they replaced them this year, and BTSRN is 10 years old. We did not intend to buy a boat when we bought BTSRN, but just couldn't resist the great deal.

Libraria and Hubby made a quick Branson visit this past weekend. They called today but we couldn't hook up. They are the ones that introduced us to Dobyn's restaurant at the Keeter Center at COO (Hard Work U).

Thanks for the explanation. I'm hoping the weather will be nice and I can convince hubby to stay an extra day (we're scheduled to return home on Tuesday night). If the weather is good and we stay over until Wednesday . . . maybe a day at the lake on Tuesday would work. I'll write you off-list with our travel details

How did I know you would have a 1/2 cent to add?

              Trip Follow-Up

Well we came - - we saw!

Unfortunately the weather forecast was for thunderstorms daily and after having them on Sunday and Monday, we chose to trust the forecast and not extend our trip . . . so we were only in Branson for three days/two nights.

We enjoyed seeing all that we could in our brief stay. The Tall Timbers Lumberjack Dinner Show was OK . . . lousey food, decent show . . . good price through eBay seller. Dinner at Shorty Smalls was a dining highlight . . . outstanding! Breakfast after 10:00am seemed to be very limited, with the chains who serve all day (Denny's, Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans) the most obvious but not convenient, but we did find that Belgian Waffle & Pancake was still serving breakfast after 11:00am. The scariest was one place that said at 11:10am that "we stopped serving breakfast at 10:00 but still have some stuff on the breakfast buffet available." Ahhh - "no thanks!"

I guess the biggest surprise for us was the Rt. 76 strip of motel after motel, theater after theater . . . and the bumper to bumper traffic regardless of direction or time of day. Luckily, we found the "yellow route" our first night which by-passed all of the traffic.

Thank you to everyone who provided us with input on restaurants. And a special thanks to JLB for the invitation to the pier and the boat that shall remain nameless

When we visited Branson two years ago, we also ate at Shorty Smalls several times--excellent! We were there on Easter Sunday and they gave us a free dessert which was most thoughtful!

                  Famous Dave's

So far our favorite restaurant in Branson has been the Thai place across from the Branson Mall (Walmart). But we went by yesterday and it was closed. Not sure if it is just temporary or they are out of business. We ate at McFarland's once and it was good.

Tonight we ate at Famous Dave's BBQ at Branson Landing and it was fabulous! My husband and I shared a sampler platter of food that is served on a trash can lid (I kid you not). We both ate until we were stuffed and took quite a bit home in a box. The ribs and chicken were incredible. The baked beans and cole slaw were some of the best I've ever tasted.

It was fun to walk along the the lakefront. Overall we really enjoyed the landing. We are staying at Silverleaf's Holiday Hills and the Landing is less than 4 miles from our condo.

I second and third that. Famous Dave's wherever you go is consistently good, and we have eaten at them in MN, IA, NE, KS, AR, MO and GA.

Today it was beautiful here. Men's league at Ledgestone this morning, with our team finishing second, then an afternoon on the Margaritaville Dock with my dock dog Dock. It doesn't get any better.

We wholeheartedly second the nomination of Danna's BBQ. FWIW, we like Famous Dave's (and have been to the ORIGINAL Famous dave's, east of Hayward, WI) to give you a point of reference.

For Chinese, the Hong Kong Mega Buffet was surprisingly good, and their service was GREAT.

                        Food was great!

We just returned from our Branson trip last Sunday. I have to admit that I was a bit leary of the restaurants after reading some of the posts here. I am happy to report that we were very pleased with all of our meals. We had bought a restaurant.com certificate for Shorty Smalls, went there, and just loved it. The food was great, portions were large, service was super....a great experience...I would go again. We also had bought an Entertainment Book and used coupons in there to go to a Japanese Shogun Hibachi Grill, can't quite remember the exact name, but the food was excellent and the people sitting at our grill table were friendly and fun. We ate at Mike Radford's Veteran's Cafe in the Radisson Hotel on a coupon from the Entertainment book also and it was very good. Olive Garden was enjoyable also. One of our favorites was eating at a restaurant called Pizztro's or something close to that. It was at Branson Landing and had just opened a month before we went. I almost nixed it because I thought it would be just pizza and sandwiches. Boy, was I wrong. For 12.95 each, my husband and I had dinners that were scrumptious and the presentation was beautiful. They also served wonderful fresh, warm bread and dipping oil. We left there stuffed! I would recommend it to anyone. It was a good week with plenty of good food.
