October recomendation

This resort is RCI affiliated and I'm a member of Interval. So, I don't know if they ever have rentals or exchanges. I checked several rental sites. No one had any rental or sales listings. You may have to rent directly from Superior Shores if you are interested in staying there.

Good luck in finding a week. Sorry I couldn't help you more. Make sure to bring warm clothing if you stay near Lake Superior in October. The wind coming off of the lake can be quite brutal.

Actually, the colder ther better. If I can get snow on the ground at that time that would be a bonus.

Can you think of any other resorts in WI or MN?

The Rushes, Little Sweden, Landmark and Meadow Ridge in Door County are good late September and early October for fests and colors. Its a great place to visit.

If you are entertaining kids, I would try out the Dells where there are a number of resorts with some having attached indoor waterparks. I like Christmas Mountain for its golfing and beauty. We are going last week of October on a points exchange in a 3 bedroom townhome.

If you want real rustic and real remote try out the Northern resorts like Lake Forest, Treetops, etc.

Then in Wisconsin you want the December Holidays if for skiing at our Christmas Mountain. If for snowmobiling then Jauary or February in the far north areas of Wisconsin like Bill B said in the Eagle River area.

Fall vacation in the Midwest

Hi ~ I've lived in the Midwest for 40 plus years. One of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited in the Midwest is the Northern shore of Lake Superior. We stayed at a quaint little inn called Cliff Dweller in Lutsen, MN. The deck is built out over the rocky shore of the lake. If you've never seen Lake Superior during the blustery weather of the fall, it is NOT to be missed. It is very much like being on the shore of an ocean.

It really is a nice place to stay. I've stayed there twice. Loved it!
