  • Telemark owners update

Well I just paid my MF Wow $1400 for the lock out. I was told by Marge that the resort is being sold and that there will be many changes coming including a water park and other goodies. Another thing is they will lower our fees and they want to make the resort back to a gold crown.

Wow, that's a lot! There's somebody over at TUG (can't remember her name) who loves Telemark and owns two weeks there. Yowza, that's quite a hit come January.

      Telemark lover

Well, I may be that person -- I LOVE Telemark -

we own 3 weeks there, out at the Telemark Apple Pointe (out on the lake) and it is only $700 something each (the lock outs are a lot more) plus the taxes which will be billed later. It's high but not as high as some others I have seen people list.

We love it so much that it is worth it to us- another great thing for owners is that 3 weeks out, if availbale, you can get a week for $199. So that average sout a lower price.... I hope that won;t change with the new owners. (But I am kind of afraid it will ) - there will be so many upgrdes with them, though ,and the values may rise.

I did not know about the $199 deal. I tend to pay my MF early so they send me 5 free nights that I try to use but never have. If you can make use of the extra day coupons let me know.

The sale of the lodge has been in the works for almost two years now. The problem has been lining up financing. And that was before the credit woes of today. I'm afraid the deal may never be finalized, which means the timeshare owners will have to continue to subsidize the lodge, which in turn means maintenance fees are not going down. Still, $700 for a week on the lake is a great deal.

              Had me confused.... !

Reading this post - and recalling I was at #1831 Telemark in Sept of 2006 - I was sure wondering how I could have missed the 'lake' - some days are sometimes a 'blur' but never a most of a week - hummm- there is a #2253 Telemark Pointe Red Apple Club - that is on a lake - and both are in Cable WI - wow - make me much more comfortable knowing that ..... !

Yes, different associations sharing the same amenities, namely the Telemark Lodge. The Lodge was an incredible building in its day, all alone up in the north woods. We are hoping it will be again with the right owner and a large infusion of cash!

Yes, we own at the Pointe out at the lake

We have 3 weeks there, 2 reds and one white and still love them. The $199 / week specials (at 3 weeks out) can be anywhere on site, up at the Christina Villas near the lodge or out at the lake (Apple Pointe) depending upon availability. We have stayed in almost every building and have liked them all.

We have also stayed in the lodge time share units:two bedrooms with two Jacuzzi's - it made it very convenient when there was a conference we were going to right there at the lodge, rather than driving the 10 miles to the lake. Also it was easier to use the pool, being right there. But you can't beat having a lake at your doorstep and a rental fishing boat readily available again, at your doorstep!

Owners get 2 coupons per unit per year for free nights in the lodge hotel rooms which are nice to be free but the rooms are not too good - no fridges, which I really want. They are nothing compared to the timeshare units, which are all nice, so we usually opt for a timeshare. Those lodge hotel rooms, of course, will be updated with the new owners. (I suspect we may lose those coupons then? who knows?)

The ambiance there is unbelievable and we have many good friends on site. Particularly helpful to the community is TEFI - Telemark Educational Foundation Inc which hosts the many annual weekend events. Also GAry who hosts the FatTire (Bicycle) Race in the fall That is very popular , as well as the international X-country ski race, the Bierke in Feb when the town of 200 swells to 20K, we heard.

Actually (though it probably doesn't matter) there used to be 3 associations, but when we bought out the crooked thief developer Bill Papaik (in, what, 2000?) - we became one.

Hate to say it, but this does not look good:

So what do we do with our weeks, Keep them, sell them dead them back. The resort could still get a revamp with a purchaser if they come back to the table.
