The one thing that is certain is you really don't want to purchase in an area that is over developed with timeshares unless you plan on visiting that location often. It would be a shame if you purchased a timeshare in Branson, visited Branson and then learned that you really don't care for the tri-lakes area, all the T-shirt, fudge shops and outlet malls. As mentioned, Branson, like Orlando and Williamsburg, VA, is considered to be a very easy exchange.
We own two weeks in Branson but, one I bought because it was an inexpensive week off E-bay. Owning it allows me to use my exchanges for more difficult destinations that interest us. The other week we bought becasue we really like the resort, it's an RCI resort and I didn't want to waste my HGVC points (the only other RCI resort we have) exchanging into it. But I wouldn't own any resorts in Branson no matter who cheap I could buy them if we didn't like traveling to Branson. For us it's a 2 to 3 trip per year location. We usually visit for long weekends rather than a full week. After 3 or 4 nights we've generally had enough.
