  • Branson . . . Booming or Busting

Last night we headed through the shows area at pre-show feeding time, and it was ghostlike. Restaurant parking lots ranged from sparse to empty and the traffic was minimal.

We met family friends at Branson Landing, for dinner, at BL was packed.

Oh, so that's where everyone's going now . . to the free entertainment at BL!!!

Last night they had a triple fire/water/music show at 7 PM. The National Anthem is at Noon, 7 PM and 10 PM. Single shows are on the hour and at 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM.

Monday nights they have a free movie at 9 PM in the fire and water plaza. Last night it was Elf. It was getting ready to start as we were heading out, and there was a very large crowd.

Traffic is lighter just about everywhere. Maybe the price of gas is the reason.

We were in Branson for a couple of days last month and it seemed busy enough. it seems as though a lot of the people visiting there drive there as opposed to flying to Branson, so the price of gas may play a factor in it.
How do think the airport will impact travel into the area?

I think the airport is a crapshoot, something being built to benefit a handful of people who own everything else around it. From every logical viewpoint, in light of the plight in the airlines industry, and with another Regional airport within the drivetime to airports in most major metro areas, there appears to be no reason for a new airport other than that, the pushing of the handful that will benefit most.

The land for the airport was donated by the man who owns thousands of acres around it, and a golf course, the project known as Branson Creek.

But, if they build it (which appears to be more than if), and it goes to Florida for less than Allegiant out of Springfield, we would use it.

Perhaps another sign of the times, SDC season pass holders are just now receiving a mailing. Right at peak summer, SDC is sending additional BAFs ($10) for two of the 3 remaining festivals, plus one for Celebration City, plus a 1/2 page of discount coupons for use once in the park(s).

i would go out there again...beautiful countryside. Branson I could take or leave, I did like Branson Landings. We stayed at the Hilton which is central to everything.
We flew into NW regional airport, which is a nice small airport, but truly enjoyed the ride to Eureka Springs. But, if the price is good going into the Branson airport, I would fly into there.
