We took the Badger out of Ludington, MI, to Manitowoc, WI. for son's wedding this past July. Friends took the Lake Express out of Muskegon. We compared, and the Lake Express ride was MUCH quicker, but when there are bigger waves on Lake Michigan, the ride is rougher than the slower, and heavier Badger. The Lake Express is more expensive than the Badger (which is coal powered). Take Dramamine if taking the Lake Express and waves are 4 ft. or so!

Seems there is a lot of interest in both of the cross-lake ferries this year, with the cost of fuel now.

Took the Badger for Trip West (mentioned in my Week One Trip Report). A veeery smoooth operation.

Appears much faster but uneconomical.

Our round trip was $72 per person on the Badger (for round trip without car, returning within 48 hrs.) Thought the price was VERY reasonable!
