  • Wyndham Tamarack - Wisconsin Dells

We have a 24 hold put on Wyndham Tamarack (#A777) via RCI for June 13-20, 2009. Any input or information would be greatly appreciated.

This a single standard "Wyndham mid-rise" building that is located within a larger development. The furniture was just a tad worn, but the kitchen was well-stocked. Stacked washer/dryer---nice for drying those towels and swim suits after coming back from Noah's Ark. Fireplaces in case it gets chilly in the evening.

The Tamarack development has three HOAs: Wyndham, Peppertree, and Mirror Lake. The Peppertree and Mirror Lake HOAs are typically clusters of four-unit townhomes. The resort has an indoor and outdoor pool, indoor squash or raquetball courts (I forget which) and a pretty decent fitness facility. The activity is basically a big steel shed with heat/AC, but quite functional. A couple computers in the activity center with mediocre internet connectivity. Only dial-up available in the units. Resort is very well-located to the summertime Dells fun, though mid-June may still be a bit on the chilly side for the outdoor waterparks.

We own a couple of Peppertree summer weeks, and have also spent a week in the Wyndham building. RCI has it Silver, and II has it Select. I'd say that's about right. It's not as nice or well-appointed as the new Wyndham development that's part of Wilderness, but comfortable and well-located.

I can't speak for the Wyndham units, but the resort is very nice. We have a week 23(June 5-12) unit in one of the Peppertree buildings, and stayed there this past summer. If you are an active group, you will enjoy the activities on site as bnoble mentioned; they are well-maintained. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

As for weather, June is my favorite month in Wisconsin. I wouldn't worry about warmth. We regularly have daytime temps of 70's and 80's in early June; rain can be hit or miss, though. We went on the ducks, upper dells boat(must see), Noah's Ark(my kids perennial favorite), and mini-golf. If you can get your hands on a Dells Funbook, it is well worth the effort. If you want more info, just pm me, I can give you more info.

For groceries, there is a WalMart superstore near the resort. A smaller, family-owned grocery store is located in town, if you prefer. TripAdvisor has restaurants listed in order of popularity; after visiting, I found the list to be pretty accurate. We really enjoy the Riverwalk Pub with view of the river.

If you are up for a little drive, you could visit Madison(Wed Farmer's market), Devil's Lake State Park, and Wollersheim Winery for change of scenery.

Have an enjoyable visit if you choose to go next summer. DawnB

What type of bed arrangement do they have in the two bedroom units? And how is the noise control for above and side units?

Also, can Wyndham Tamarack use Peppertree and Mirror Lake facilities and activities?

2BR: nominally Queen MBR, 2 twins in the 2nd, sofa sleeper in LR. I would not have been surprised to hear the MBR was a double, not a queen, in our unit. It seemed small. We were ground floor, end unit, noise was not an issue.

Facilities and activities are managed as one resort. No worries there.

Have the granddaughters bring their report cards, as that week is often report card days for the water parks, an a or a b will get you in free. also, the Stopper shopper will be runnng lots of half price, weekday, coupons for parks, etc.
