  • How far is ORD from Telemark resort in Cable WI?

I am thinking of spending a few days at a home resort that I have never seen. The prices I am getting for midweek to Chicago ORD are at about $165 RT from NY. Thats cheap I think, But how long a drive will I have to get to Telemark resort in Cable WI from ORD? There is another airport that is 75 miles away but air is over $400 for the same times.

    Suggest MSP

My suggestion would be to fly into Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (MSP). We spend summers in Birchwood WI (half way between Rice Lake and Hayward and about 45 miles from Cable). It takes us about two hours to get to MSP. Cable is about 160 miles from MSP. ORD is about 425 miles from Cable and closer to 6 1/2 hours of drive time! From MSP you can fly to Eau Claire WI but that flight is generally pricey. We will be in Birchwood sometime in June for the summer so let me know if your plans are during that timeframe. Would love to meet you. Jan

MSP is certainly more convenient to go to Cable. Unfortunately deals are very hard to find. Northwest hub in MSP causes prices to be quite high. I agree ORD would be a good 6 hour drive.

Is MSP Minneapolis? Then no. If you get off in Chicago or milwaukee, you have a long drive but would go thru the Dells. If you fly into Minneapolis, you have a shorter drive and go across Wisconsin much further north of the Dells.

Hi Frank: MSP (Minneapolis St Paul) is about a 3.5 hour drive from Telemark. Our lake cabin is about 5 miles from Telemark so we make that drive all the time. ORD would be much farther: probably a 7 hour drive?

It's a nice area for hiking, golfing, boating and there are quite a few good restaurants close by. Also, the south shore of Lake Superior is an hour or so north: the Apostle Islands National Shore is well worth a visit. If you come in the summer, there is lots going on with local festivals.

                We love Telemark, did you?

                Frank,
Sorry, I've been offline for a while - we've been 4 weeks up at Telemark this summer and not checking the email very often...

We had some friends join us for one week and they flew into Duluth.

MSP, of course, is usually the better deal, but we were using FF mikles for them!!

Looking foward to returning to Telemark again for Sept 07

No not yet. I met up with Bruce for a few days in St Croix. I still have 3 free night to use at the hotel but it must be used by I think it was Oct. I am going to be away leaving today for 3 weeks and in Oct I am booked to go to Nola for 3-4 days. I am not sure if I can fit it in but if I can I will go there to check the place out for a couple of nights.

Be sure to look at the condos

The hotel is not as nice as the timeshare units - be sure to get a look at them!
See Marge Mergen for talking about that - she's super at helping for exchanging, etc.

Owners can get last minute weeks for just $199 a week - a great perk.
