  • New Branson Airport Open

The new private commercial Branson Airport opened yesterday.

Over the weekend they had a high-dollar fancy schmancy airshow with stuff like the Thunderbirds, the Golden Whatevers, P51, biplanes with wingwalkers, people jumping out of perfectly good planes with just a bit of cloth to slow them down, etc.

    It was horribly crappy weather.

I look up at a jet sound (?) and it was a Stealth Bomber. One of ours, I think.

50,000 attended Saturday (the air show, nor the dock), with infrastructure suitable for maybe 5,000. Guess it took 2 hours to drive the one lane private road the 6 miles from the highway.

I was out and about in America's Hometown yesterday noonish and right up there in the sky was a commercial jet in the final approach nose-up attitude. It really looked out of place, a jet in the final approach, coming in over the strip.

Nose up seems appropriate, though, for the individuals who have managed to pull this off with considerable public money.

Incidentally, 60 miles away, Springfield opened it's new terminal last week. Dueling airports. (Ozark banjo music) Springfield celebrated with it's first flight to LA (Los Angeles, not Lower Arkansas). It was full, and low fare.

Great Economic Speedup? Not here, not airport-wise.
