I saw it and loved it; it's not the "adult theme" (i think) your green smiley means... but very heavy drama involving a dark family secret. It's the kind of disturbing show that stays with you for days (or longer) in a way that's hard to shake; really good theatre but not appropriate for kids/teens, even with my usually liberal filter.
Super innovative-yet-simple theatre/staging. Julianna Margulies was great. Several other familiar faces (including Ali McGraw), all good, and it's neat to see Billy (Six Feet Under) act like Billy live on stage...
Avery is absolutely correct. It was excellent but not for teens or younger. I went opening preview week on the spur of the moment with my teen and we had deep discusiions about things she really was way to young to be exposed too. We aren't talking about the kind of stuff you may see in other plays like Avenue Q and Rent. It is disturbing and she was thinking about it off and on for a while.
My honest take. it was OK and worth the $25 but not more than that. The place was empty when we went and they were upgrading people to Orchestra. We stayed where we were because we had first row center Mezz. We felt bad for the actors because the place was more than half empty. Keep in mind we went the day before the official open.
