    THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

    * PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT... NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS... IN SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT... NORTHERN FAIRFIELD... NORTHERN MIDDLESEX... NORTHERN NEW HAVEN... NORTHERN NEW LONDON... SOUTHERN FAIRFIELD... SOUTHERN MIDDLESEX... SOUTHERN NEW HAVEN AND SOUTHERN NEW LONDON. IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY... BERGEN... EASTERN PASSAIC... ESSEX... HUDSON... UNION AND WESTERN PASSAIC. IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK... BRONX... KINGS (BROOKLYN)... NASSAU... NEW YORK (MANHATTAN)... NORTHEASTERN SUFFOLK... NORTHERN WESTCHESTER... NORTHWESTERN SUFFOLK... ORANGE... PUTNAM... QUEENS... RICHMOND (STATEN ISLAND)... ROCKLAND... SOUTHEASTERN SUFFOLK... SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER AND SOUTHWESTERN SUFFOLK.

    * FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON

    * ONE AND ONE HALF TO TWO AND ONE HALF INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE TRI-STATE FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY... WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AFTER MIDNIGHT... AND THE HIGHEST RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE GENERALLY EXPECTED OVER THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY. ANY STRONGER CONVECTION EMBEDDED IN THE RAIN COULD PRODUCE LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ANYWHERE ACROSS THE TRI-STATE.

    * THE PRIMARY THREAT ACROSS THE REGION IS FLASH FLOODING OF QUICK RESPONDING STREAMS AND SMALL RIVERS... AND IN URBAN AREAS.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

    A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

    YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

    .STRONG SOUTHERLY FLOW AHEAD OF A STORM SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH THE GREAT LAKES TONIGHT WILL PUMP COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE INTO THE REGION. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS EXPECTED FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO MONDAY.

    If it were snow it would be in excess of 24 inches...

          South Florida currently 79 degrees and too sunny.

          Maybe you can move down earlier than planned.

          Flash flooding is scary.

          I lost my car in a flash flood we had about 9 years ago here.

            That is what's heading our way!! Supposed to start raining any time now, & continue through tomorrow, heaviest in the afternoon. Supposed to be a 24 hr. storm, & we'll get about 2" out of it - windy - 50 mph - but thankfully temps may hit 50. Ohhh for April............
