DDs BFs mother and her sisters visited NYC a few weekends ago and stayed here.
They were more like spacious suites from what DD described and located near the Manhattan Club.
They are having a $99 special until the end of February - seems worth checking out for a one or two night stay. They paid $139 for weekend nights in a suite.
I also got a room at the Hotel Mela for $159, all in (including taxes) which includes an upgrade to an Executive Suite. It looks nice, and I'm hoping it's a good hotel. We're using it for the night of April 10, as my timeshare at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square starts on April 11-18, and we needed an extra night, since our airfare ($198 round trip, all in) required that we arrive on the 10th.

The Hotel Mela has very good reviews on Trip Advisor. I always check Trip Advisor when looking for hotels anywhere.
We will be staying in a hotel for 4-5 nights prior to our week at the HGVC West 57 Street Timeshare in August. In July 2008 we stayed 5 nights at the 4* Luxury Boutique hotel Michelangelo on 51 street and 7th Avenue along with a week at the Manhattan Club. We had a suite ( free upgrade ) at the Michelangelo and loved it. Far preferred the Michelangelo over the Manhattan Club. I am planning on staying there again this year but am open to other 4* hotels in mid-Manhattan. The hotel Michelangelo has much larger rooms than most hotels in Manhattan.
