  • REVIEW: Candlewood Suites Times Square 339W39St (between 8&9 Ave)

I had a chance to exchange into the Candlewood Suites Times Square thru RCI from 1/23-30/10

Here is the Hotel website and description
Candlewood Suites NEW YORK CITY Hotels | NEW YORK CITY- TIMES SQUARE | Welcome

Let our Times Square Hotel be your Home Away From Home
Located at the "Crossroads of America", the new, all-suites Candlewood Suites Hotel at Times Square has the perfect location for extended stay business and leisure travelers. We are convenient to the major businesses in Times Square, as well as the attractions of New York City. If you are traveling to "the Big Apple" for just an overnight stay or for an extended stay, our NYC hotel's studio suites, with full kitchen facilities, will make your trip a smashing success.

Our hotel's Times Square address places us within walking distance of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center, Legg Mason, Ernst & Young and Merrill Lynch among others. Our suites offer extended stay guests a comfortable workspace and free high-speed, wireless Internet access.

Leisure guests know that our hotel in NYC's Times Square is centrally located so it is easy to visit the best of the city; the electricity of Times Square, the majesty of the Empire State Building and the excitement of Broadway Theater are at our doorstep. All modes of transportation, from trains, buses and cabs, are nearby.

Our extended stay Midtown Manhattan hotel offers a free 24-hour fitness center. We are a 100% non smoking hotel. There is the Candlewood Cupboard, located in the main lobby, for food and sundries. We also offer free laundry facilities. Check out our great, extended stay New York City hotel deals.

***It is located close to 9th avenue one block away from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and one block from the NYC Subway system. You can get the 1,2,3 & 7 plus a bunch of those 'alphabet trains' right on the corner of 8th and 40 which I really appreciated since it was 13 degrees out.
To call it "Times Square" is a bit of a stretch but I felt it was well located because of its' proximity to the subway.

The street itself is not the nicest but there is plenty of activity in the daytime and I felt comfortable walking around alone. I arrived via the LIRR getting out of the train at Penn Station 34st & 8th avenue and walked the 5 blocks to the hotel. At night, I took a taxi to return.

The Candlewood Suites is in a brand new building along with 2 other hotels - Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn.
Each Hotel had its' own entrance, lobby, elevator...kinda different.

It is listed as a sleep 2 and it definitely is. There is a queen bed and a recliner chair.
Table with 2 chairs, dresser with TV and the kitchen. bathroom was standard hotel, not big, not small.
Towels and sheets nice and soft and fluffy.
free USA today in the lobby.

My costs for this exchange was $75/night with guest cert so closer to $67 per night.
The accommodations were very nice - this is NOT the Manhattan Club but to spend a week in NYC for this cost is excellent.
There was NO additional fees when I checked out.
There is no housekeeping per say but you can take your sheets and towels to the front desk and exchange them as often as u like.
I met some girls that were using the gym and they said it was clean/nice.
    Free laundry.

Good to know - thanks, Pat. I'd have a hard time with that location, but the price makes it hard to turn down given the alternatives.

Yes, in 4 years it will be so much better - the block will have totally turned around - but if u have something inexpensive to trade in with, u can't beat it.

I grabbed that week when I saw it pop up in RCI but released it when we decided that spending the money on DH's dental work took precedence . Glad to see that someone from our group got to use it. I keep hoping to see this place come up again since I don't have the trading power to get Manhattan Club.

            Thanks for the review.
