Newport RI on hold, need help re kids...

Am posting this OY as well, hoping for some quick help... also let me know

I'm thinking about Memorial Day weekend in Newport with teen/almost teen boys... After we do the mansions and the cliff walk, what else would there be for them? I fear it may be chilly for the beaches... Having trouble deciding if it's worth fighting the traffic on I-95 over the holiday weekend... I've got Newport Onshore on hold....

Memorial day is the beginning of the beach season in southern New England. The end of May is usually pleasant enough temperature wise, but it can be quite variable. I suppose you could keep busy enough on a trip there- if you had a car you could go to battleship cove, drive over to new London(CT) and look at a sub, hit the touristy Mystic(CT) and take in the Mystic aquarium.
Gillette castle may also be within range for a day trip. If you go, stop at a CT welcome center/rest stop and pick up a free map which usually has many destinations for day trips.
