I'll check out the airfares. The only problem would be that we'd have to drive back up there from the Cape when we are done with our touring so I thought driving back and forth from Boston might be a better idea but I'll see if I can fly into one city and out without having to pay a drop off fee for the car.

So South Mountain is a different resort than the Loon mountain resorts?
I own a VRI so was using the 25% discount to book this stuff and don't see South Mountain on the list of VRI, that's why I went with Pollard Brook.
South Mountain looks like it's in the middle of a neighborhood. I guess that would be convenient but not sure that it would give us the resort feel that we are looking for. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing for that area.

If Southwest air flies from your home city this might be an option. They fly into and out of Manchester, Boston and Providence. Out of the three I would pick Machnester or Providence any day of the week to avoid Boston and it's traffic.

As for South Mountain - not sure how come you can't see. Check www.innseason.com and look at the resort and prices (which are even resonable for rack rate). You will see both Pollard and South Mountain.

As for the Village of Loon Mountain. Not a place I would suggest. Really needs an update. Definately Pollard or South Mountain are better.

This is where I am looking at the list,
      VRI - Northeast US Resorts
Do you have another list of VRI resorts?

I'll check out Southwest. They don't fly out of my city but close by so I can drive to the next county if it's worth it.

I found the airfare for around $200 plus luggage fees on AA but Southwest might be better since I think they don't charge for luggage.

South Mountain is a BlueGreen Resort, not a VRI resort.

You are correct, Chriskre, no baggage charge on Southwest.

Some Loon Activities you might enjoy (the ZIP Line sounds especially fun):

Adventure's the name of the game, and Loon's Adventure Center is bustling these days, with good reason -- the Loon Adventure Package offers a ton of fun, and it's a super value at only $39 for adults and $29 for juniors!

The package includes Adventure Center activities, like the new zip line. It's a thrill, zipping high across the Pemi River and back to the Adventure Center! You'll also find the area's largest outdoor climbing wall, and fantastic fun on Loon's bungee trampoline.

A two-hour bike rental from Loon's Adventure Center is included with your Adventure Package. The junior package includes a pony ride, too. The Adventure Center has extended hours until 7:00 PM daily and an ice cream & snack bar, so you can play into the evening.

All Loon activities can also be purchased a la carte. Details of all our Adventure Center activities are on our website.
