How about Mohonk Mountain House? It's in New Paltz. You can make lunch reservations there and then you're allowed to hike their beautiful trails and look at the scenery and the hotel. You can rent a rowboat and go around the lake. In the evening they have tea and cookies by the fire. The lunch is nice, too! Don't forget to bring dimes for the fish-food machine--when you feed the fish they jump right up out of the water.

My godfather swears about this place, I will bring it up.

Pat I did not want Casino's because I still have not used my timeshare in AC and if I can not make use of that I do not want to go elsewhere.

Check out New Hope, PA. Right on the Delaware, 1.5 to 2 hours from you.

More "in town," go to The Cloisters. In Manhattan, but way north, beautiful trees, incredible (mostly religous) art and artifacts. I know you don't like driving in the city but you would completely bypass all that if you come the north route and there is parking here.

I will keep thinking. Am away so not online much and need to now.

Frank, you've gotten some good suggestions. Can't think of too much else other than the North Folk Wineries, and the Birkshires.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Wineries my friend is doing one half today so it would be to much for him to do it two days in a row

Mystic is one of the spots we were thinking of,
The one place that we are going to go to in case we do not find something else is Philly for a Cheesesteak sandwich.

Philly is a good idea! We used to go there for weekend trips. Nice hotels, nice restaurants, nice walks. Shows and museums, too.

When I lived in NYC I used to get on a subway train (any one) and then get off at a stop I hadn't been to before. Go to street level and wander, have a bite to eat, and wander some more.

If you want a little trip to Poland without having to fly to Europe, take the G train to Greenpoint. Stop in Christina's restaurant and try the polish platter (and white borscht if they have it). Christina's is on Manhattan Ave.
