I have a 2BR sleeps 6/private 2 on hold for the summer of 2012. Can someone in the know say what kind of unit this is, and whether it would have 2 bathrooms and a washer/dryer? TIA.

Originally posted by calgal View PostI am disappointed. It's MA4, which is in the Maples building and looks to be a 620 sq ft, 1 BA very small 2BR. If I release the hold and place an ongoing request, is it likely to get filled? It's for summer 2012, so I think my chances are good to pull a better unit.
How many are you actually bringing?Lawren

I've gotten Smuggs during the last week in August with an ongoing search, but never an earlier summer week. Haven't tried in a few years, so maybe someone else will jump in with more current info.

My boys will be 12, so they would share the tiny bunk bed room, DH and myself in the queen room, and who knows about DD (will have just finished high school) and whether she will want to come. DS will be a college grad by then, so hopefully will be too busy working to join us. So at most five, with DD sleeping on the sofa. If it is the kind of place where one is always out and about, it could work.

Confirm the unit IF you really want to go. Buy the cancellation insurance and then with another week start an on going search for another 2 bedroom. IF a match is found, and it is a better unit, you can cancel the first week get a coupon for the exchange fee to confirm the found week and have the second $179 (used for the search) credited back to you credit card. You will lose the insurance money, but you will have a better unit for a $69 investment. You will get your first week back to use again with restored trade value and may be able to reconfirm the new, better unit using the week from the cancellation.
Just a thought!

Good Idea Joy.
The 12 year olds will love the summer camp week and will be out all day Monday to Friday.
I've stayed in a couple of units at Smuggs. I will say that the place does know how to "pack 'em in" when it comes to occupancy but we haven't felt cramped. I split a 2BR in AH with another family. Even when we had 6 bodies it never felt like an overly snug fit.Lawren

Thanks, ladies!
I'm going to confirm it and get the insurance, as suggested. I used a 1BR Island Park Village August, 2011 week that i just deposited yesterday, so it isn't even verified by IPV yet. My Texas week will not have the trade power necessary, and I am hoping to rent or sell or direct exchange my 2BR So Cal June week. So, probably this will end up being our unit for the week, but that's OK. Since I have almost two years, I may try next year's IPV deposit and look around for a unit upgrade next summer. I plan to make this a two+ week trip with a couple days in Montreal and the second week in NYC , so it should be overall a great vacation. Thanks!

I just picked up a unit for the last week in August, 2012, thanks to one our Ex-Opp fairies...
When did the camp get so expensive? I was there in 2007 and it was $50/pp/pd which seemed high enough. Now it's $80? And if anyone not in camp wants to use the pools, we still have to pay $315/week/unit?
Does anyone know what the camp discount is, if any, for RCI exchangers paying the $315/week fee?
Looks like this week (if it's 35) d/n count toward 1 in 4, so that's nice....
