We will be spending a week here in May. What are your suggestions for things to see and do? (Note this will be after Winter season and before everything is geared up for Summer.)
The mountains---particularly some stops on the Kancagamus highway. There's always the Conway scenic railroad trip and Mount Washington (if it's open). Clark's Trading post and their bear show(if open). You could take the cable car trips up Loon Mountain or Cannon Mountain. A trip north to the Umbagog region and Moose watching (check the lots of the highway departments-Moose like salt). And the outlet shopping in North Conway. You might also want to check the liquor store for some low priced spirits.
Tony knows the area well I will add that the Cog Railway is a nice way to get to the top of the white mountain and will save your car breaks coming down.

Be certain to have pizza at the wood fired place in the Eastern Slope Inn lobby. It is THE best we have ever enjoyed & it was consistently good time after time.
We will be coming back from Canada via Maine and will probably spend a day or two (or maybe more) there. Vermont was just where we wouldn't get. Originally tried to decide whether to spend week in Vermont or NH and decided on NH.
Are you into Motorcycles?
The week heading into Father's day weekend is bike week in Laconia. A bit south of your location. If you are into that - certainly worth the trip. If not, then I would warn you to stay away from that general area.
Boston is about a 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive.
Attitash Mountain has some fun outdoors stuff - not sure if open for the season yet.
