The hurricane track has it going 10 miles to the east of my house. The county south of me has a tornado watch. So far just rain off and on, with heavy rain coming after midnite and the heavy wind and rain due around early to mid-day tomorrow.

We will be thinking of you.

Frank, tell your tenant to stay off the roof. He will need some buckets and your roofer will have to make good, I hope.

The roofer should be able to fix the roof fairlly easily Hope there isn't very much damage to your ceilings.

I got some water coming into the basement but me and my son stopped it before it got out of hand. It looked like it stopped raining for a few minutes which gave me enough time to go out side and sweep away any water near the back of the house and take the drain covers off the drain so the water goes down a bit quicker. Then it started coming down harder than before, so far about 5 large full buckets worth my son picked up with towels. My son told me to go to bed and that he was staying up and would check in every half hour. I just had to move what ever can get contaminated off the floor in case it comes in and we can not stop it. It is going to be a long night with the worst still to come.

Frank get in an interior bathroom and take a mattress with you just in case debris starts falling. I know it sounds crazy but that's what we do here when the storm passes over. And whatever you do DONT go outside again.

Oh boy. I spent so much time worrying about how to get out of there that I forgot to worry about my house, the lake that fills my yard in an average storm, and the huge old oak trees well within range of destruction
At least I didn't leave my car in the driveway (our garage houses a recording studio )

Frank and others nearby, please listen to Chris - we are not trained for this.

I am watching the New York NBC affiliate station and they said the storm has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm. DH said he lost power in Hampton Bays at our mandatory evacuation beachfront condo at 8:15 am. the water was approximately three and a half feet higher then normal. he will go back and check our house later today.

                                Mostlly over

Here in DC area (Northern Virginia) Irene has passed. So far we haven't lost power, just a few surges. Our church, which is less than a mile away, is without power. DH went out to see if he could find a grocery open, as DS, wife and 4 grandkids are here. They live in Annapolis which was closer to the eye and seemed to get much worse than here.

All of you that the storm has no passed yet, take care.
