Sounds ominous. I hope for you that the storm will lose it's strength before it reaches you or will change it's path.

Right now (6:31 edt) we are having a tremendous thunder storm. Can hardly see outside because of rain and loud thunder.

The Sun's out here in Miami. Doesn't even look like a hurricane passed by just a few hundred miles away. It rained all day but now it's sunny and drying up.

I hope you guys are preparing for this one.
Fill up your water bottles and bathtub and get some canned foods, batteries and flashlights. It's like camping everytime we have a hurricane. It gets ugly after the storm passes so you really need to have everything you're gonna need for the aftermath.

I'm kinda an ol pro already. If your house is wood get out and please don't stay in your home if you live on the coast. It's not safe.

I'm praying for you guys that it loses power soon.

TWC just showed all the models, saying none of them is good.

Hope you guys haven't cancelled yet!
Now they are forecasting nothing but a tropical storm.
                I would go!

We are off. Staying put on Long Island.

I think that's a wise choice. I'm not looking forward to the power outages and we are sure to have them with all the rain we've been getting. The trees are going to come right out of the ground.

When Tropical Storm Ike came through it was a mess for days.

Good luck. Long Island is in the path of most of the models I saw this morning. Going to NH might be considered "evacuating."

I just watched the news. Nothing has been said about this massive storm being downgraded to a tropical storm. When you look at the computer models, the eye is directly over my house. If I evacuate, it will be to the local fire house with my DH where I am sure he will be doing stayby all day long.

It'll be a tropical storm by the time it gets to New Hampshire. Right now it is forecast to be a tropical storm when it reaches us here in MA, and we are predicted to be on the windward side, so more wind, less rain.

The Weather Channel has Joe Cantore reporting from New York and they always send him to the absolute worst places during weather events.

But he survives and returns despite TWC's best efforts.

Nassau County residents north of 25A and south of Sunrise Hwy are being urged to move in with friends/family in the middle of the island.

I'm on hold with Delta again, the 8 am flight d/n look so bad now.

Anne-Marie, sorry about your trip, but I think you made the right decision.
