The neighborhood where I live was lucky. We had a few downed trees and sporadic outages (though none where I live, just a lot of power fluctuations). In nearby areas, several transformers have blown. Some of those residents have been told not to expect to have power restored until after the holiday! Thank goodness the hurricane wasn't as strong as expected. I can't even imagine the devastation if it had been.
I don't know if there was any damage to our vacation home in the Poconos. Will be going up this weekend to see if there's anything left of the house up there.
It's been quite the week - first the earthquake, then Irene. Hopefully there's nothing else in store......
