Paying $30/week for the worst service ever. Called to try to get it fixed, no luck. This is not due to weather, it's been bad since well before the storm, and from two different locations on the property. Spent a half hour on the phone with tech support yesterday - no joy, no refund. Service not provided through Smuggs, so not worth spending more time on but I'm glad I kept my tethering plan.

Do you have a 3 or 4 G android phone? If you do go to your market apps and down load easy tether use the usb cord that might be the same as is used to charge the phone. It works Great better than my home DSL, my son hooked me up this past week when we were away with no internet. At least I got something out of paying for his TutionTimeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Tethering through Verizon costs me $20/month, can be turned on and off, and works great anywhere with a signal.

Sprint unlimited 4G / 3G has a 10 GB 3G on network limit ($0.05 each added MB of 3G) 300 MB of 3G off network limit ($0.25 additional MB of 3G off network). I travel too many fringe areas outside 4G and/or Sprint 3G network. Shoot I have HuLu in areas without broadcast TV reception. And who can use a WiFi hot spot in a moving car on the interstate?

Most timeshare locations are not in the 4G coverage list
I have an air card with AT&T, (have slipped the original cingular simms card into several sierra air card upgrades) can't let it go because it was one of the old unlimited 3G data / flat monthly fee contracts. Mandatory contract period long expired and still pay month to month. If I let it go will never see a unlimited 3G on/off network data contract again.

Often phone contracts that advertise unlimited or "all you can eat" Internet and data usage will bury these hidden charges in their terms of use.
As cited in Sprint Nextel's Terms of Service, "Except with Phone-as-Modem plans, you may not use a phone (including a Bluetooth phone) as a modem in connection with a computer, PDA, or similar device. We reserve the right to deny or terminate service without notice for any misuse or any use that adversely affects network performance."
T-Mobile has a similar clause in its Terms & Conditions: "Unless explicitly permitted by your Data Plan, other uses, including for example, using your Device as a modem or tethering your Device to a personal computer or other hardware, are not permitted."
Verizon Wireless and AT&T Mobility currently offer wired tethering to their plans for a fee, while Sprint Nextel offers a Wi-Fi connected "mobile hotspot" tethering feature at an added charge.
