Thanks, I will be sure to try that one....

Better yet, he should go to China Town at least once. Dim Sum for lunch is pretty cheap...
We tried John's Pizza once and did not like it at all. We have a family owned place here in Murrieta that serves NY style pizza that we feel is much better. However it is all subjective so there is no right or wrong.

Don't think I haven't thought about it but it's not really the type of thing a parent can go watch..it's very intense long days. I'd be all by myself..which could be good but I'd rather have all my family with me.

These are all very good ideas. I googled the Halal cart for pics. WOW! Large portions for sure. Looks yummy.

Frank, good idea with restaurant.com and the others. There are 22 of them going so coupons would help a lot.

I sure hope they let them split up to eat. My son will have a blast. The others..maybe not so much. This group of students is..how should I say..unusual? Ok. That works. Many of them have not really ever left the area where we live. They are all VERY intelligent but some are very socially awkward and afraid of new things...especially food.

At the last conference he tried to get them to eat seafood (it was at a college near the ocean) NOPE. He tried to get them to eat Thai. DOUBLE NOPE. He ended up with burgers and pizza.

Just today they asked him for a Mexican food recommendation. I was stunned. Mexican food? Here? Every third place is Mexican food. You can't tell me they don't know where to get good Mexican food. They look up to him. He's like their leader..LOL. I just know they are going to turn to him for help in NYC. So between all of us, we will have him loaded up on ideas.

          Thanks everyone!

If they get to Chinatown :: Dim Sum -- try the Golden Unicorn on East Broadway - HUGE place, food comes by on carts and you pick out what you want. Been crowded for years, spread over a few floors...might not be for the less adventurous as they might not know what they are ordering.

Also - Nom Wah on a little alley called Doyers Street -- also dim sum but this time from a menu so they can read about what they are ordering. Might work better for the medium - adventurous of the group.

We are Mexican food afficianados. MY wife is Mexican and we owned a Mexican Restaurant in San Jose CA.

We ate twice at Rosa Mexicano on 62nd Street. They have 3 locations in NYC. It was pretty good but is pricey for a Mexican restaurant.

One of the best burritos I have ever had was from a street vendor at a street market in NYC. They closed down 7th avenue for the market one Saturday when we were at the Manhattan Club so it was right out the door. It is not a regular event but I wish we had been able to find out if the burrito vendor had a regular site.

I second dim-sum. Also soup noodle (xiao long bao) at Joe's Shanghai is farily inexepnsive and quite tasty. Many Indian lunch buffets to be found as well. Katz's deli is another good choice. Do a search on Yelp and you'll get a ton of results for cheap eats!
