We have an exchange to Brewster Green April 20-27, 2012.

Which Ferry should we take to Cape Cod? Should we take our car? Do we need to book in advance this time of the year? Is one day there enough or should we consider an overnight stay and if so any recommendations?

Sorry, confused with the question. Brewster is Cape Cod. Where are you originating from that you want to take a ferry there?

And yes....a car while on the cape is a must if you want to do anything.

Brewster is on Cape Cod. You do not need a ferry to get here. You can fly in to either Boston (bos), Providence (pvd) or Hyannis (hya).

If you are speaking of going to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard reservations are not needed this early in season. Depending on what you want to do on either of the islands will be the determining factor about taking your car.

Be sure to pack warm clothes since April, even late April can be iffy.

Nantucket, if you want to take your car I would suggest reservations at the steamship authority How To Get To Nantucket Island - Nantucket Visitor's Guide . You would leave from Hyannis and come in to Great Wharf on Nantucket. The trip is around 2 hours each way. If you want to see all of the island then you will need a car, ortherwise the boats come in to the town of Nantucket and there is much to do there for a day.

As for Martha's Vineyard, you will also need a reservation if you wish to take a car. The boats leave from Hyannis or Wood's Hole. http://www.mvy.com/visitor_informati...ting_here.aspx
