Interesting choice considering Gurneys is a time share, not a 'hotel' in the true definition.
Original owners wanted the money from selling their rooms to TS buyers but wanting to maintain control and run as a full service hotel. Should be interesting in how they spin this to their advantage.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Yes, I watched it. The lobby has been redone, and management has been given some great lessons on how to improve the service, etc. The show ended by saying that suggested changes have been made, and last summer was their best summer yet.
I love Gurneys because of the location, and spa. I was very happy to see the upgrades, and changes. Now, if only something I could grab would show up in RCI.

I had a meeting with Paul Monte years back. He was a gentelman and as you saw laid back. In all my years of going I never seen those salt water shots. The show did not show the parking areas where some of the dips are. BTW I was suprised that the show did not show my favorite Coffee/Danish stand.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

I just watched the show. I had DVR'd it.
My impression from the show was this property is not worth the price being charged. It looked like a really old property. I can see why the Gurney TS owners are in a little fight with the Montes over the management.
The property needs lots of work. Great ocean location though.

My DDs friend is getting married in Southampton this summer (30 miles west of Montauk) - the close family members are staying at the Southampton Inn for Friday and Saturday night - the cost is $500 per night not including tax. And this is a non-oceafront location.
Was there any mention that this is a timeshare property???

Isn't Gurney's only partially timeshare, and the rest hotel?
Mike, the Gurney's location is as good as it gets in the tristate area imo. Gorgeous, private, huge, oceanfront property. And while Montauk used to be the sleepy fishing town at the end of LI too far to go for a weekend getaway from the city, in the last few years it's become the hippest, hottest "Hampton." I've been curious to see what happens to it, they have been struggling for years to manage. Used to be a destination resort with guests held captive to it's dated restaurant, but now there are dozens of much better places to eat. They've tried to make the spa an income generator, I don't know how well that's worked; I think the spa experience is disappointing. For a while they were only renting rooms in season with a spendy AI meal plan.

I bet that many of the owners who defaulted the units went back to the Monte family and are now being rented with the money not going to lower there current owners MF.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms
