Frank,
Not in your area (I'm in Seattle) ... but lived briefly in Hell's Kitchen when it was (early 1980's), and didn't have Starbuck's! I get back there about every 2 years just to eat at good restaurants and enjoy the city. Sometimes I stay in Manhattan, and if I feel the need to budget I stay at the Brooklyn YMCA (very close to Christina's). Now I'll have to add La Nona, the bagel place AND the cheese shop. Hopefully my diet will be over and done with before I do another NYC food run!No one can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. - T. Bankhead

When you come to Seattle, these are the restaurants I would go out of my way to dine at:- Pabla Indian Cuisine - 2nd avenue between Pike and Pine. Go for the lunch buffet (dinner is ok, but the buffet is great). >>Website<<.
- The Pink Door - post alley at the Pike Place Market - Italian fare. Cioppino is excellent, and I hear the lasagna is too. Interesting entertainment Tue through Sun nights . >>Website<<.
- Anthony's - any of them. If downtown, Pier 66 is a good choice. Excellent seafood. >>Website<<.
- Jade Garden - Chinatown - dim sum. I think it's the best Seattle has to offer. If you go on the weekend or at peak lunch time, be prepared to wait (or join another table). >>Website<< (it's my opinion that the poor reviews are from people who are used to Americanized-Chinese food!).
- Samurai Noodle - Chinatown - 5th Ave on the side of Uwajamaya (asian grocery - go in and shop). All I'll say is tell them 'Tonkotsu - Extra Rich Broth - with Egg'. >>Website<<.
- Serious Pie - wood-fire cooked pizza. I'm not all that fond of the other Tom Douglas restaurants, but he has a big hit with me here. >>Website<<.
Now I'm hungry again! Darned diet!
p.s. Now that I'm getting used to the new forum software, I'm finding that I really like it. Thanks for keeping this place alive!Last edited by bjones9942; 06-17-2012, 05:16 PM.No one can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. - T. Bankhead

I need to copy this list somewhere in the Seattle forum,
We are only going to be there 2 maybe 3 days, I have a lot of family there and I want to pop open a bottle of wine and a Cigar with Steve as well, China town sounds like fun, Is the Italian food as good as what we have here in NY?Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

I'm not sure if they still have their cigar bar, but if they do - I think el Gaucho would be a good fit (http://www.elgaucho.com). They're at the upper end of the price range for Seattle restaurants, but most would agree they're worth it. In order of 'swank-iness' it'd be: el Gaucho, Pink Door, Anthony's, Serious Pie, Pabla, Jade Garden and Samurai Noodle. The latter two don't have much swank, but make up for it in great food.No one can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. - T. Bankhead

People *do* rave about the lasagna, and I have never had a bad bowl of cioppino. Plus, the place is fun and has a good wine selection (not extensive, but good). Pink Door is one of the Seattle restaurants I wouldn't miss when visiting. Jade Garden opens for dim-sum at 9am, so you could do that for breakfast (I've been known to do it) - plus they're not nearly as busy then.

Left Nutells Pizza....Not me it was so good I even licked the plate clean.
Frank, you are as I imaged you to be a kind hearted generous man. Thank you for the Italian fest you treated Margaret and I to. We enjoyed tasting the different Italian dishes. My favotites were the rice balls, fried pizza, and nuttells pizza.
We wish we would have had more time to spend with you and Lawren. It is nice to meet people in person that are friends through the board.
When you or Lawren get to our part of the woods we will treat you to some Wisconsin foods.
