Loss of P-week in Sandy areas

Listening to news radio this morning. Most districts effected by Sandy have given up Pweek off. Getting a day or two instead of the full week. Word is school term will be extended on the back end as well. We have not gotten thru winter and snow days.

Other districts who have not announced are counting on the state to lessen the mandated 180 days of annual school attendance.

This is such a BIG vacation week for many parents/kids.
All book ahead and already have air and accommodations.
It's not going to be pretty.

Here in the NorthEast our elementary schools almost always have off for Presidents week. Feb 16/17 this year. Winter break.

We got an e-mail from the superintendent yesterday saying if you haven't made plans for the winter break yet - don't! And if you have a non-refundable trip, to see him asap.

President's week. If I am correct, it is the week following President's day which is always the 3rd Monday in February. I know this because the Daytona 500 for years mirrored this until last year.

Our HS does not have Pres week off, just the Friday/Monday.

So far b/c of the storm days lost (8 days, no power to the HS...) they have taken away the following holidays : MLK Day, both those P days, and Easter Monday. Will take more off Spring break if needed. They can't extend in June for many reasons.
