  • where to stop on the way to Smuggs?

Can anyone recommend a good place to stop for a break/bite to eat midway or so between NYC and Smuggs? We tried the Basketball Hall of Fame on the way home from Killington last year, but found it to be overpriced and overhyped... Even just a good place for a late lunch/early dinner would work.

We're leavin tomorrow, my youngest is so excited about being able to take a friend on vacation!!

    TIA,
    Avery

DS and I always pull off for the Cracker Barrels that are off RTE 91. Super onion rings. and reasonable food.

Have a GREAT time Avery. Your kids like mine will beg to go back.

Not really a quick bite/break, but you could stop at Six Flags New England just south of Springfield, MA.

I'm sure the kids wouldn't mind that.

BION, my son's friend doesn't like amusement parks. Lucky for me

I believe that Sharon is away right now. She could have given you a load of places to stop off at. Since she owns there I believe she goes there often.

            I'm still here...leaving Saturday!

Avery, which way are you traveling?

To tell you the truth, we never make a huge stop on the way to Smuggs because we all want to get there so badly. If we need to eat, we do a drive-through off the highway. On the way back, we stop at Ben and Jerry's (in Waterbury) on the way home, but that's only a half hour or so outside of Smuggs. If you decide to go through Burlington to get home, that's a great place to visit and has some tourist attractions like Shelburne Farms.

In Massachusettes, we always pass the Yankee Candle Factory which looks like it could be cool (try a couple of googles on it) but I can never convince anyone in the car to stop!

Well since I was the only driver, we had to stop. Just did a fast food quickie to stretch and get back on the road. Boy, that Smuggler's Notch Pass road is a trip, I'm glad we got here during daylight!! We are in a Willows unit, up a BIG hill, whew!! I sure wish there was some a/c in the living area, I am HOT after that hike up the hill!! But it looks great here, I am looking forward to the boys having a great week. Our unit faces the daytime sun, so I don't think I'll get to hang out in here much during the day. Did I already say I can't believe there's no a/c in the living/dining/kitchen area? I am going to have find someplace quiet and cool to get some work done while I'm here. Maybe it'll cool off in a couple of days....

edited Sunday am: ok, 11 am, living room still a comfortable 76 degrees. It cooled off a lot overnight. Running both bedroom a/c's on high with the doors open, and found an electric fan for the living room. Will keep shades down this afternoon when the sun comes 'round... I think it'd be more energy efficient for them to just put a/c in the living area...

But, it's a gorgeous day out, time to explore!!
