  • Great Bakery in Long Island

    http://www.dortonibakery.com/European_Tortes.htm

We have had about 6 to 7 of there cakes and each one is better than the last. You will pay $23 for a cake but it is well worth it. They have been some of the best cakes I have ever tasted. They also have other bakery's including 1 in Port Jeff.

The only cake I ever had that can be on the same level was a restaurant cake that came from Mrs Grimbles bakery in the Bronx. That was a Grand Marnier chocolate cake.

So much for that dieat thread.

    Frank,
    ........
I just came back home from running to the fish market between my last post and this post. I picked up fresh Tilapia. I then stopped at the Green Wagon and got vine grown tomatoes, broccoli, and salad.

I was all set for a healthy meal and a change in live style and then read this post. I looked at all those wonderful cakes and pies, and immediately thought of an excuse to order one, and start our diet tomorrow. The cake would be our last fling for a while.

This is the reason Americans are over-weight, no will power......

BTW, I am familiar with this bakery, and it is true....everything is wonderful....

No, I will not give in......

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

BTW....I don't need to order from this bakery, it's not that far from where I live. I can very easily drive there......

La Bonne Boulangerie and Messina market are owned by the dame person. We have both here in East Norwich/Oyster Bay. I have not been impressed with either. They are very expensive for what they offer. We priced them out, and bought a sample for a wedding cake. The cake was very dry. We got a wedding cake for half the price at Ianetti's (sp)in Greenvale that all our guests reaved about. Most people are not crazy about wedding cake, but this one was exceptional.

Do you live by East Norwich? I live in East Norwich.... I knew it was only a matter of time before someone brought up La Bonne Boulangerie. Personally, I love their stuff, and go there often.....I'm waiting for Avery to bring up Dianne's Bakery in Roslyn. It is also a great bakery.

Just when I am trying not to think about sweets......
