  • Berkshires question

I want to book the Oaks for Sept 20. It is 16 tpus and i have 14 and 12 tpu weeks, many. I just combined in june, don't want to do it now. I was waiting for trading power to be slashed and it was this morning, however, not september weeks int he Berkshires. i was going to bite the bullet and use my 22 tpu week that expires August 2014. It is tied to an existing search that I have had in effect for a long time. I have a 26 tpu week, so i could call RCI and change the search week, it expires in July 2014, so I won't be able to search in August next summer.
so I have the choice of waiting it out til tpus go down thirty days out, but what are the chances it would still be there?
I no longer own any timeshares, so i need to be careful how I spend my space banked tpus and not going out to far in advance.

Best chance would be a last minute cancellation. The end of September is leaf season, so demand is pretty high and there are lots of trees here.

Could you use the 26-point week for the reservation? Then when you combine the "change," it will extend the expiration date.

I think I will call RCI and switch the 26 pointer for my ongoing search, and use my 22 pointer for the week, and in March I am going to have to combine the 14 pointer with something anyhow. i don't want to take a chance on losing the week that is there right now.would Sept 20 already be leaf season in the Berkshires?

The season varies depending on the year's weather conditions. There may be an online map of foliage levels. I've posted one in the past OY, but since I live in the area, I get to see it happening and don't need to travel much. Try a search.

I switched the tpus this morning, I got to an operator very quickly, however, he took almost one half an hour to complete switching the tpus.

Toward the end of your stay a driving trip north into Vermont will take in some peak foliage. A map to check on it is here: http://www.yankeefoliage.com/peak-foliage-forecast-map/
It's a very nice drive north on route 7.

thanks, I bookmarked the page. still have to plan for the weekdays of sept 30 to Oct 4, that map will help
we were thinking of driving up into vermont on day while at oak and Spruce, up 7. Or is that too long of a drive for one day?

southern vermont, like Mount Snow/Wilmington area should be doable, under two hours. Less than an hour from North Adams, MA(and that's not far from Vacation Villages/Jiminy Peak). Check googlemaps for more precise distances.

currently I have a hold at oak and Spruce, but I could book another resort. it just seemed oak and Spruce was more convenient

Oak & Spruce is maybe an hour from VV & Jiminy Peak, but that extra hour saved would not compensate for the wilderness you would be in at VV or Jiminy Peak..

Vacation village and bentley brook are about 45 mins or an hour closer to southern vermont. depends what you want to do. They are also nearer to North Adams, Mass MOCA, and Williamstown.

check www.berkshires.org for goings on the week you'll be there, might help. The Clark Museum is also in Williamstown, we never seem to make it up that far and I'm always sorry.

I think I agree with this. We want to head south from South Lee also,

We do have a few days the following week where we were thinking of just heading into new Hampshire, Vermont and sightseeing and finding a place to stay. If a week is available last call or on special sale from RCI I might book it and only go for three nights.
