  • Hello and Pictures from Celebrity Resorts -Brigantine Beach

OK Boca has turned into quite the shutterbug. Still learning the new digi-cam. It resizes images internally....hope this works. I won't come close here but wanted to share a bit of our week here on the Jersey Shore.

We could NOT have asked for a better beach week. Temps hover in the 90s and 100s back home and inland. A breeze and the cool Atlantic waters are a blessing.

This resort has a lot of issues (It is clean, small but functional units) but I'll go into that with my full report next week. Most here are longtime owners. Small 90 unit building and many have been coming for the last 10 to 20 years and know each other. A very friendly bunch. Helpful to the "visitor" with restaurant suggestions and activities or sight seeing. You would never guess that we are only 5 miles from Atlantic City!

VERY pricey restaurants. The local Italian/pizza joint up the block lowest dinner meal price is $18. I guess they make hay while the sun shines to get them thru the long off season. Found an amazing steakhouse ( another owner suggestion ). Many restaurants of all calibers have "early-bird specials" from 4PM to 6PM which make them affordable if you are on a budget.

I've only taken pictures of the resort itself, beach and our view so for. Mid-week cleaning is tomorrow so I'll share room shots tomorrow.

a long walk on the beach

today was so hot. We took our time getting down to the beach ( and so I got to spend some time here this AM ). After dinner DH and I took a stroll down the beach. Our goal was the southern tip of the island.

Beaches are deceiving. The end appears relatively near and 30 minutes later you are no closer. 45 minutes later you have definately gained ground but still haven't arrived at what should be the southernmost point. Can't turn around NOW may as well continue on. An hour later and here is our view:http://www.timeshareforums.com/photo...5/cat/516After

If I knew the camera options better it would have been a better picture. Anyway Atlantic City is just across a relatively narrow channel. Less than a baseball homerun shot.

We are not slow walkers and were on firm sand at low tide. 2 hours of hiking I'd bet on approx 7 miles round trip. I do love the beach though, night vision was good enough at 9:30pm to avoid the various moats around sandcastles. I'll sleep tonight.

Tomorrow we will check out the Atlantic City boardwalk ( I haven't been in eons) and I'll see if I can talk the boys into going to see Lucy the Margate Elephant ( just for grins & giggles ).

    Cya tomorrow.

Hi Lawren.....good to hear from you. You're so right about this being the ideal beach week. It has been brutally hot in NY the past couple of days. I think tomorrow it's gonna cool down a bit....thank God.

It seems you guys are having a nice time, and the pictures are great. The boardwalk tomorrow will be interesting, if you haven't been there for a while. If your there during "Happy Hour" you can listen to some music, and have a drink on the beach.

Have fun, and keep us posted.....

          Lawren,

Great pics! You are the one that got me into this picture thing. I used to hate taking pictures. Now, I feel like I am on a mission.

              Lawren,
Nice pics. I envy you. We vacationed for over 20 years at Ocean City, NJ (it's about 8 miles south of AC). We love it down there.
Lucy is a fun side trip, won't take too long but good for a couple of pics. For a while she was used as a library, don't know what it is now.
Several of the small towns south of AC are fun trips. Ocean City has a really nice family boardwalk, and Sea Isle City is a pretty nice visit also.
Have fun and enjoy the beaches.

Lawren, enjoy your vacation! It looks like a beautiful beach to me and yes, I love all these pictures here from different part of the country. Keep them coming, Lawren and Boca. A beach is a beach but it's not the same as I can see from the pictures. The water must be warmer too than we have here in So. CA.

Lawren, we were there a couple of years ago. Have they air conditioned the common areas yet? Everything outside of our room was soooo hot you couldn't stay indoors.

                    Lawren,

Ken is right about Ocean City...it is very nice, and your son will love it. Also, if you get ambitious, take a drive to Cape May. It is probably about an hour away, maybe less, but it is my favorite Jersey Shore town.

It is beautiful with all the restored Victorians. The beach is the nicest in the area...spotless. They also have a nice shopping area that has something for everyone, and is very nice to walk around in.

They offer inexpensive bus tours of the many gorgeous Victorian homes in the area.

                      Today was nice.

We took a drive down to Ocean City, MD per Ken's suggestion, stopping in Margate to see Lucy the Elephant. Tomorrow the structure will be 125 years old!

Ocean City has a great boardwalk that we walked up and looked around and had lunch. VERY crowded beach. Nice place to visit but I prefer Brigantine.

Came home and walked over to LaSammana which is a block west of Celebrity. OMG the units are GORGEOUS! May be worth the one block walk to the beach for a future exchange.

Yes Emmy our east coast beaches are very different from your west coast ones. Many we can walk for MILES without stopping and the Atlantic does warm up to to-mid 70s from the caribbean current unlike that very cold Pacific.

Anne the only common area that has air is the lobby. The halls are very close.

I took lots of unit pictures both here and there but when I go to transfer the files the pictures look like that old shampoo commercial after you told 2 friends and they told 2 friends and they told 2 friends! I have no clue how to fix this problem and will call Sony when I get home.

Sorry for the delay in posting pictures but you would all think you had developed the multi-lensed eyes of "The Fly".

                        Lawren,
Check your setup on the camera, it sounds like you are stuck in thumbnail mode. Most cameras can view photos in this mode but some even transfer thumbnails.
On Ocean City, you are right the beach is crowded, but years ago it was worse that it is now, the beach was much smaller. They did a beach reclamation project with the Army Corps of Engineers and pumped tons of ocean floor up on to the beach and moved it around with bulldozers. It was quite a project to watch, took about 3 months.
Anyway hope you are having a good time and enjoying the beaches and all.

Can't figure this out for the life of me. I reset the whole camera, checked all the settings....oh well.

I did manage to create a collage for the photos of the 2 bedroom model at La Samana with "Paintbrush" can you say archaic and time consuming? But it works so that's what I'll use for now.

La Samana is VERY chi-chi. Five flours, consisting of only 57 units ( 16 studios 2/2, 36 one BDRMs 4/4 & 5 two BDRMs 6/6 ). Only the fourth and fifth floor even numbered ( ocean side ) units have balconys. They have a small dipping pool on the roof. and I mean SMALL we have had larger at villas we rented on St John.

It's a little nasty here right now with remnants of Beryl so I may go take a peek at VRI's Brigantine Beach Club about 2 miles up the road.
