  • Resorts in Maine and New Hampshire

We would like to do a New England trip again in early fall, 2015. Which resorts would you recommend in Maine (on the coast)? We also want to visit New Hampshire, maybe the Lincoln area again. I am thinking maybe last week of September and first week of October, or thereabouts.
Ideally, we could rent weekdays from someone, and spend weekends in Westborough MA with my son's family, before heading south to Florida. Another thought is to rent some weekdays in Alexandria Va on the way.
We belong to RCI only, but we don't really care if we spend an entire week in these locations. The trip is to see my grandson.

Both are II, Samoset (about 1-2 hours from the park) is RCI, but now is going dual affiliated. Acadia Village does rentals and they are fairly reasonable. For the White Mountains Lincoln area, Pollard Brook or South Mountain are the best resorts, but they are primarily if not all II. For RCI (and lower quality), my first choice would be Deer Park and second The Mountain Club at Loon. Attitash at Bear Peak in Bartlett is nice enough and RCI, but rather hotel like and lacking in amenities and activities and rather isolated.

I watch both InnSeason South Mountain and Pollard Brook availability in RCI and II. RCI, actually has a lot more units now. (but you are correct, II use to dominate). These are also the two resorts I would highly recommend for NH White Mountain Leaf peeping. Right on the Kangamangus highway and a great starting point in any direction for scenery. South Mountain is preferred as the location is more "in-town" and you can walk to restaurants, movie theatre, grocery, shopping....but it is a smaller resort and not as much inventory is deposited.

I own at Mountain View at Crown Ridge Resorts in North Conway. They are through RCI. The area has a lot to offer. The condos are not as plush as Inn Seasons but they are very well kept and clean and spacious. I highly recommend the North Conway area as a starting point for leaf peeping, hiking, and shopping, etc.
